I've accidently washed my passport several times. It looks horrible. But I still use it. Yes, I get asked about it all of the time. I haven't been stopped yet. I guess all it takes is one holier than thou, protector of the passport, looking for a raise or recognition individual to make life difficult.
I use to encrypt email. But then I got a job that required a government security clearance. The person assigned to do the background investigation asked for my passphrase. I gave it to them. I haven't encrypted email since.
So you knew what the government was paying the contracting company for the position. The contractor themselves was only making 1/3 to 1/2 of what the contracting company was getting paid for the position. Unfortunately, the contracting companies prefer to to hire people that only meet the requirements in the statement of work so that they can pay less in salary and keep more for themselves. Someone that exceeds the requirements will want a higher salary.

It never a good thing to be the subject of a judge's humor.
I think posting a person's real name is a great idea. I'd never get embarassed by having my real name associated with some lame username that I picked over 10 years ago.
