As mundane as it is doing the routine "easy" projects, keep doing them! Practice. Practice. Practice!!!

During the routine projects you might come up with a more convoluted idea to do the same exact task which will require x5 the work and try to do it just because you can. It's when doing mundane tasks I've had many a brain storm to try a new method. Most of the time my brain storm was Hurricane Katrina (a disaster) but there were a couple of legitimately cool things I accidentally did in the process!

I agree and thoroughly hate the whole "omnibar" trend that is happening with the browsers but What alternative are you going to use once Google has successfully rolled out their "omnibar" crap? The Firefox camp is doing everything they can to fuck themselves over while trying to mimic Chrome. They'll roll out the same thing with FF ver 45 (in 6 weeks at the rate they're going). The only difference is that the FF version will be buggier than shit.

My bosses boss was the sys admin here. He's moved up over the years. He still keeps his hands in the sys admin stuff on occasion. You know what happens? He fucks things up in the process! Things have changed in the past 5 years that he isn't aware of and so shit breaks when he tries to help.

Do yourself a favor and do one job and do it well. Give up the keys and let someone else sink or swim. If you don't stand aside, you'll be a liability more than an asset.

This really depends on your coworkers and what type of work everyone does. If everyone is pretty savvy then you might be OK. No two people use their computer the same way at work though and you'd be surprised how many backwards things people will do as part of their daily work flow.

There aren't many warning pop up boxes to save users from themselves. Are you ready to deal with "I accidentally removed my toolbar" or something equally absurd? Or "Why is it i keep getting a crackling sound when i listen to a youtube video?" Little things that you take for granted that work well on a Windoze box can actually be a pain for average people even in an office environment. Adobe Flash is a pain in the balls randomly on Windoze!

That's all fine and dandy but you're relying on Chrome and FF to keep XP support? FF which has a great track record for stability and consistency while never changing things for the sake of changing things *cough* PDF viewer *cough*? Chrome which is from Google who has a great track record of keeping products around?
