The Star Trek trek that I thought was the most futuristic was the Personal Waste Transporters that would automatically beam out solid, liquid, and gaseous human waste, plus dirt, oil, etc.; which eliminated the need for toilets, showers, etc. from Star Ships and Away Missions.

Strange that in Star Trek, they could beam away all of the bad stuff from their bodies, but would still need to eat and drink in traditional fashion.

Prior to the Waste Transporters, I don't want to even think about how rough Klingon toilet paper would have been, Vulcan deodorant which requires mental discipline to ignore orders, or the poor quality of a Ferengi tampons that fall apart.

My biggest gripes with my iPad3 as a work device are:

One's fingers does not provide fine movement input like a mouse, touchpad, or fine tip pen/stylus (like the Samsung Note/Note2), which is needed for creating decent graphical design work. (It is far easier to move a mouse, touchpad, or pen/stylus by a single pixel, then my finger.)

Proper unrestricted filesystem that lets you locally share documents easily and securely locally across different applications, without handing over your unencrypted work to untrustworthy 3rd party cloud services. Why could I upload my personal document to Apple's iCloud and download it again, just to open it up in a different app?

And proper cut-and-paste of graphical (non-text) objects between applications. Why can't I click on an image, powerpoint/keynote diagram, etc, and copies these into the clipboard, and then paste into a word/pages document or e-mail message?

Why must so many muslim men in so many muslim dominated countries feel soooo insecure and threatened by women, that they must dominate and suppress women in so many ways?

It there some huge deficiency or other inadequacy in their manhood of these men, that forces them to overcompensate by suppressing women? Are a majority of these men transgendered and need to suppress women, in order to make it less tempting for them to get sex-change operations?

I sorry,but as a women, I cannot understand the rational of these men. I am personally confident enough with my own identity, that I do not want men to be suppressed and locked away in homes and in burkas.

But if so many of these poor muslim men are suffering from sexual and gender insecurity issues, we do need to help them.

Agreed. I am willing to pay more in taxes to subsidise equivalent infastructure services to those who choose to live in rural areas, once those in rural areas pay to subsidise us in urban areas with similar air quality, space, crime rates, etc.

With the removable zagmate bluetooth keyboard, iWorks office suite, omnigraffle, iOS mail + calendar + contacts, kindle reader for reading pdf's, and cdyia mobile terminal + openssh, my iPad3 has become a serious and portable work device. (The retina display is really beneficial to me.)

My biggest issue with the iPod is that the gcc tool chain is no longer available for native development with ios 5.*, as was possible in ios 4.*. :-(

Step 1: take a cheap-ass discounted $50 tablet
(android 1.x and some 2.x tablets are dropping in price, not to mention RIM playbooks)

Step 2: add some religious software and branding
(project gutenberg is a good source of free religious books)

Step 3: market it to religious groups
(especially those that are technically ignorant; oh look what granny bought you for X-mas)

Step 4: profit $$$.

Step 5: (optional..) repent for your soul at your death-bed.

Repeat the above steps for Buddhist, Christian, Islamic, Jewish, Hindu, etc.

Nice to know that this is the model that is being promoted in Canada, USA, and other western nations to protect us and our children from the bad guys, when it is really about protecting out-dated corporate business models and interests.

Why wouldn't I want FaceBook to intercept all of my Internet traffic? It would allow FaceBook to provide better services and targeted ads just for me. This would be the best solution, until I get that FaceBook brain implant installed.

The simplest solution is to raise the minimum salary for all H1B employees to something more reasonable, like between $100,000 to $150,000, depending on the area and profession. (Note this is a minimum, the maximum is open.)

That way companies would be forced to pay the extra amount for foreign workers if they really are needed, and be incentivize to first look for local talent and/or provide training.

And H1B's recipients would stop being considered as cheap low-cost labour putting downwards pressure on salaries.

Not everyone is blind. My eyes have no problems seeing individual pixels on my iPad3.

I read a lot of PDF data sheets, and retina quality display lets me view and read entire pages with pinching and zooming.

1080p not enough on a tablet with an edge-to-edge-to-edge display and no bezel, if the DPI is to match the ipad3.
