So even more reason to flash your droid with CyanogenMod or custom ROM of your choice.

There is still a level of trust required, you shift from trusting your tele-operator to trusting the Cyanogen-mod people.

To be honest, the best, relatively doable way, is to compile the ROM yourself. It's not that hard, XDA Developers has great information on how to do so. Sure, in this case you need to trust google but in the previous cases you need to trust google + teleoperator, or google + cyanogen mod devs.

Lets not forget that your operator can track your calls quite easily even without software.

I'd be interested in a list of operators that use this software, and an explanation as to what they are using it for, and how they verify that it isn't used for spying on people.

Right, because the Democrats were not already campaigning on the "refusal" of the Republicans to work with them when they set this committee up...oh wait, yes they were.

... and were they wrong?

It goes both ways of course, tax increase AND cuts in spending is what's needed. However, AFAIK, democrats weren't signing pledges that they would not reduce spending, whereas republicans are signing pledges not to increase taxes.

Oh but they did agree to something, they agreed to go into the discussion AFTER signing the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge": http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/nov/21/grover-norquist-tax-lobbyist-supercommittee-gop
They really set themselves up for success on that one.

I'm a european working for an American company, and have always been impressed with how American companies do business, their aggressive plans and the "everything is up for grabs" mentality. Lately however, I've been equally unimpressed by the opposite, here we are, facing a massive problem, and the American politicians are behaving like babies.
The response? Smoke weed on wall-street!

Preordering was not going to give you a better chance of getting into beta, it was going to give you early access to the game, and it will still give just that.

Not opening up for everyone on the same day at the same time might not be the dumbest of ideas, one can assume that servers will get hit pretty hard at start, don't see why this is a problem. It's fairly clear that the first weeks to month of an MMO decides its popularity, very few games have survived or come back from an initial disaster.

Pulling back on how many people can beta it? Seems like everyone is getting beta access these days, should they maybe just open up free playing for everyone until release?

I'm looking forward to the game anyway, and if it becomes a "star wars galaxies mess" I will happily play it, because I think that vanilla SWG is one of best MMO's ever created.

I guess they figured that their standing with their customer-base is so low it simply cannot get any worse, might as well make some more money off the id... sorry, consumers, who are still using sony products.

Second hand games may not bring any income to Sony but the person selling the game then using the money to buy a new game does bring in new money to the company, so I really cannot follow their thinking here.
... but then again, I would never have closed down Lik-Sang, installed rootkits on CDs, ignored all security best-practices in everything I did and then proceeded by crapping all over the people who still payed for my products, I guess me and sony have different ways of looking at things.

I hate sony, there are other companies I dislike and would be reluctant to buy products from, but I hate sony. I do not buy anything that has the sony name on it, and this includes sonyericsson phones. I realize companies are in the business of making money, but most have realized that crapping on customers isn't the best way.

... and, if any of you think Sony is better at running a business then I am, you should consider the fact that I have made 4.7billion USD more then Sony PS Division between 2007 - 2010. http://www.vg247.com/2009/10/30/sony-ps-division-has-lost-4-7-billion-since-launching-ps3/

FTC To Open Antitrust Investigation Against Google 131

Also, there are people with special sexual preferences who find it easier to pay a site then look for the conent they are interested in.

i can think of many reasons people pay for sex or pornographic content, I fail to see the problem in this, or why they are being judged.

And no, ive never paid for it myself, i have a wife and i have a kid and im sure i'd know where to look, but i will not judge or think anying of people who choose to pay, as long as noone is hurt.
