Submission + - Microsoft Delivers Digg's Ads (digg.com)

philovivero writes: "You've probably gotten a thousand submissions about this today, but I feel as an insider, I have extra insight. Not that I'll give you any, mind you. I'm kind'f not allowed to talk about it. But I will be able to authoritatively leave off the silly speculation that others might include.

So Microsoft contacted us a while back and offered to provide the advertising infrastructure for Digg. This is good for us, since now we get to focus our internal resources on new features to the site rather than monetising our traffic. I can't tell you what a relief that is. Oops. I just did.

I know Slashdotters aren't the biggest Digg fans, but it is a huge LAMMP (we will never forget memcached!) stack pushing out a bazillion bytes per second, so it's a cool geeky thing behind-the-scenes, even if you can't get into reading the stuff the masses find interesting. You gotta admit it's intriguing when Microsoft comes along and becomes part of it, no?

I hope you find the whole deal newsworthy. I could pepper this submission with links to the 40 or so major news organisations that covered this budding relationship, but we're Slashdotters. We can sort that ourselves, no?"

Journal Journal: Journal Entry?

Sometimes I come to my page because I need to check out replies to my replies, as it were. And I see this journal thing, and it amuses me to see what I was thinking and doing six months ago when I last noticed I had a journal.

So now I'm doing a blog, which is much more often updated than this. I keep it at my friendster blog spot. It really isn't that much better, though, being as it's mostly blogglefodder.

Journal Journal: W00t. Blender! 1

Back in August, I finally decided to learn 3D. I decided to learn Blender. What was I going to do? Make some triangles and some squares and render them with radiosity, reflections, shadow maps, and crazy photon lights?

No, I decided modelling was where the challenge was. I modelled a full human woman. With hair. And skin. Then I rigged her. Then I copied her and posed her in an environment.

Journal Journal: Well... goddamn, something's gotta work.

Trying to use my artistic and/or literate abilities to get donations to the EFF and FSF (and ACLU, but the other two are more important).

First I tried odd vampire fiction but everyone collectively yawned.

So now I'm trying NUDE ART! W00t! Maybe people will find this nude art appealing enough to make contributions to EFF/FSF and ACLU.

Hopefully.

Please?
