"The rules prohibited ISPs from interfering with internet traffic, except as a last resort, and urged them to instead combat network congestion with âoeeconomic measuresâ such as new investment or usage limits.

Those limits have resulted in relatively low monthly caps for Canadians, but the rules have kept neutrality violations to a minimum."

If given the choice between investing in infrastructure and usage limits what do you think American ISPs would do?

Also, all the speed in the world doesn't do much good with low caps.

No one makes anyone read the articles, and without even checking, I'd guess you can configure /. not to even show them.

The Haselton hate reminds me of the Jon Katz days, which is kind of amusing ;)

everyone thinks that they are the "A" team. Some people who don't belong in IT at all are very good at bullshitting as well. The industry is also overflowing with people with no interest in it who have been lured in to it by promises of high paying easy jobs gold rush style.

Second, plenty of people work full time and get certifications with the aim of furthering their career or getting in to a different area than the one they're in - just because you couldn't/didn't doesn't make someone who did automatically less skilled than you are.

Third, I can't tell you how many degree-having diploma mill idiots, including people with Masters+ degrees, I've seen; they're too many to count.

I agree with you that experience is the best thing to have, but a lot of that is chicken-egg. Everyone wants someone with experience but you can't get experience without first having the job.

The Myth of the Rule of Law

"The fact is that there is no such thing as a government of law and not people. The law is an amalgam of contradictory rules and counter-rules expressed in inherently vague language that can yield a legitimate legal argument for any desired conclusion. For this reason, as long as the law remains a state monopoly, it will always reflect the political ideology of those invested with decisionmaking power. Like it or not, we are faced with only two choices. We can continue the ideological power struggle for control of the law in which the group that gains dominance is empowered to impose its will on the rest of society, or we can end the monopoly."

It's extremely well written and makes the above points through illustrative examples.

Because, there is no market it for it where people can pay exorbitant amounts for it. The dying people are penniless.

Although, maybe that's what the media fear mongering is all about? Maybe they will back it after all once they whip everyone in to a "think of YOUR children dying horribly of Ebola - get vaccinated fast!" buying frenzy?

What do I know, I got modded troll for saying the Apple CEO probably came out for marketing purposes - he released an accessory (iWatch) the next day.
