This is the obverse of the equally-timeless idea that the world is going to hell because the lazy, uncultured, over-coddled kids these days look/talk/act funny and play terrible music.
The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise.
