For the $50 promotional advertising credit I got with my dog's Facebook he pulled down 7,500 fans. Granted he is not a brand, but there is some effectiveness with them. I personally haven't used Facebook outside of the pages (which are naturally ad free), so I can't testify to the experience for those who do. I don't want to keep tabs on people, but Squinky demands fame.

It's pretty amazing news really when you think that there are only a dozen or so other companies that are better liked and have better offerings doing the same thing for free.
In all seriousness though at $7 a month for 1 TB and Office 365 the people who still insist on Microsoft Office are getting a pretty good deal compared to $10 a month for 1 TB and Google Apps. I personally prefer Google Apps over Microsoft Office and prefer not having to use either in general, but the interoperability between other people still stuck in Office is undeniable. A few phone calls from people who use Office everyday but have no clue what they are doing who struggle with files from Google Docs makes having a copy around worth it.

I constantly have people refer to my Moto X as an iPhone and tell me that it's natural for me to use an iPhone since I work on a lot of Macs. I don't think the Slashdot crowd are the type to get duped, but I can recount tons of people who went in for iPhones and were sold on Galaxy S3 by Verizon sales critters. I don't think really either is going to make for a better life more than the next. You can play Angry Birds while you poop with either equally effectively.

The magic is that it sold for two billion bucks. That's a lot of money riding on something cool to get out of it. It could be the next cool thing or the next MySpace. Either way that's a helluva lot of reasons for Facebook to do something with it.
First and foremost I'm hoping they make Farmville VR so I don't have to drive 10 minutes to see what farming is like.

I'd personally feel comforted if someone referred to the auto I was in an accident in as a "rolling sarcophagus". We need more frank honestly like this which could be potentially damning in courts. I'm sure KIA refers jokingly to their cars as Killed in Action when presented with queries about their safety. When Ford employees refer to their vehicles as rolling death boxes I'm sure whoever uses that terminology gets super not fired too.
