I though most schools don't even care about the essay. Also the elite schools nowadays prefer the ACT and SAT II subject tests to demonstrate real knowledge. The SAT is really a dumb test, especially with all the coaching resources available now.

I once again ask where are all these openings for skilled professions. We have spent the past 20 years demeaning these professions. It seems that everyone on slashdot thinks that all welding/manual labor jobs are the same. This is a bit how management views all tech workers as the same. It is just code right??? No information such as name, gender, race, socioeconomic status, etc should be provided.

The admissions officer should not be able to look at name, race, gender, etc and only look at grades, test scores, and extra cirricular activities.

Where the hell are welders making 150k??? Probably like 5% of welders make that much. Most of the manual labor jobs (electrician, plumber, HVAC) make like 60k with 10 years of experience. New people start around 30k.

Here in phoenix the plan I have with SRP charges me a $30 flat connection fee every month. $30 should be enough to cover line maintainance.
