A benefit with Palo Alto and surrounding communities is that you can actually find parking. And it's almost always free! Or if you like to ride a bike, the roads are actually bike friendly. The streets are wide and many with dedicated bike lanes. And for the weekend trek, there are many scenic routes with little or no traffic. Live in SF? Hell no! Disclosure: I'm in Mountain View.

And there is no way they are going to shutdown their production and usage of coal. This plan would essentially put them in the driver's seat of the world economy.

Hello Larry, Since you are an EE and started out hacking systems together, I assume you loved working with technology and the open source down at the nuts and bolts level. Now you are a suit, a very successful business man running companies that serve business (CRM!). What's the appeal of sitting in Board meetings, wheeling and dealing on the phone or in teleconferences and all that? It seems to me, if you still had a passion for tech, you would have taken your riches and either started a new company on something cool. Or just retire and use your free time to play with tech.

Oh yes that version of Sherlock Holmes is very good. I've watched many episodes but haven't finished it yet. It actually motivated me to read the original stories and I took a detour off of television for awhile. And there's Cadfael, another good series (I actually picked that one up when I first saw Sir Derek Jacobi as The Master on Dr. Who). I also watched all the Black Adder episodes too. But I was hoping for more British SciFi, or at least some Dr. Who with Daleks. There are some older pre Eccleston episodes but none with Daleks or other classic adversaries that I've found.

Since I missed the original run when they had Babylon 5 streaming I watched 3-5 episodes a day. It was pretty neat to see the entire arc in a matter of a few weeks and how the characters evolved. Same with Red Dwarf. Now I'm just finishing up X-files But other than that there isn't much there that interests me... wish they would do the entire Dr. Who series, or at the entire set of Tom Baker episodes. But in between interesting series my usage drops pretty low and I spend more time streaming Linux Action Show or Linux Unplugged.

Can you still pay your bills and have enough leftover for long term savings? If the answer is yes I'd take the new job.

Beta sucks

I left Yahoo Groups because they totally destroyed their hierarchical UI and make following conversation impossible. Well there was always Slashdot. But now you guys too?! Count me out when you finally switch over.

Sad to say as one of the early /. users, once beta becomes mandatory I'm out of here.

After using two bagless vacuums and dealing with the clogged filters and cloud of dust when I have to empty them, I refuse to buy anymore. My $40 Dirt Devil with the traditional bag is cleaner and easier to maintain than any of the expensive bagless I've owned in the past.

Same here. Got my first computer in '82, a TRS-80 Color Computer, paid for by frying chicken at KFC. Parents didn't want to pitch in because they thought it would be collecting dust in a month. I couldn't even afford a monitor nor disk drive nor software. I had to write my own code to do anything but that was the fun of it. The next big purchase later that year was an Epson MX-80 so I could print out papers instead of slaving over an IBM Selectric. That was fun as I had to write my own single line editor. The hardest part was getting the printer to work. Dad was clueless about electronics and there was no Internet so it was many nights of trial and error with help from hint found in borrowed copies of 80 Micro.

This project has failed because of poor leadership. They need to hire Office Space like efficiency experts and figure out who has to go, interviewing key people starting from the President on down. Surely if the Feds were a private corp and the President was the CEO, the Board would have ousted him years ago.

Ha! We get close to 80 OTA channel in the San Francisco area. But on 10-15 are in English :(
