Journal Journal: Google Disables IMAP?

I don't know how many of you have checked your GMail this morning, but having pulled an all-nighter again, I got a rather strange notice in Thunderbird saying my account was not enabled for IMAP, or something to that nature. Upon logging into GMail's web-interface, I noticed in the Settings page "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" has reverted back to "Forwarding and POP" again. Is this permanent, or just a temporary change by Google?

Edit: Strangest one-off bug, signed out, then signed back in again, and the setting is back.

Journal Journal: Not So Global Warming

A new report on climate over the world's southernmost continent shows that temperatures during the late 20th century did not climb as had been predicted by many global climate models. This comes soon after the latest report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that strongly supports the conclusion that the Earth's climate as a whole is warming, largely due to human activity. David Bromwich, professor of professor of atmospheric sciences in the Department of Geography, and researcher with the Byrd Polar Research Center at Ohio State University, reported on this work at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science at San Francisco.

Journal Journal: Ghetto 2

Got my car broken into again, almost caught them in the act too. For those keeping score this is B&E #3, and broken window #2 with a bonus completely bent window frame. This time I had my factory radio in, and I guess they didnt want the tape deck since it's still in there. Overall I guess they didn't take anything so that's a plus. Another plus is I dont have a concealed carry license and I dont have a gun by my bed so I couldn't shoot at them as they drove off, because I would of been very so tempted, but then I'd prolly get in trouble for discharging a firearm. Oh well, it's 3:41am and I got classes at 9:30, but stuff like this pisses me off and I need to rant.

Journal Journal: Mozilla isn't the 'Good Guy' anymore. 1

Sorry to say it, but it's not. Given the recent posts on slashdot from devs/ex-devs and considering their 'old boy' attitude on this bug (can't link from slashdot). Add in that whole MNG fiasco, it looks less and less that the Mozilla devs care about what their users want and more of what they want.

Journal Journal: Calling All Pilots 2

Well not all pilots, military pilots. I'm trying to verify some info I was told a *long* time ago about a certain button on the KC-135 (Can't remember which Bloc/Revision/etc but I'm guessing a 135R) that sits between the APU starts. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Journal Journal: Cannonball Run

Since I'm too lazy to retype out the story I'll just copy paste how I told it on IRC:

<@OvrLrd-Q> i about died driving home from school lol
<@MrPilot> damn straight.
<@MrPilot> ack
<@MrPilot> what did you do this time
<@OvrLrd-Q> lol wasn't me
<@OvrLrd-Q> ok
<@OvrLrd-Q> there was this trailer, wide load
<@OvrLrd-Q> hauling this big boiler thing
<@OvrLrd-Q> van behind it
<@OvrLrd-Q> then me
<@OvrLrd-Q> driving down I-35
<@OvrLrd-Q> it (the wide load truck) slammed on its brakes or something
<@OvrLrd-Q> cuz it started slowing down real fast
<@OvrLrd-Q> so I change into the right lane to go around since i'm like wtfmblts
<@OvrLrd-Q> anyways I switch over
<@OvrLrd-Q> look in the lane, look back at the wide load trailer, look at the lane again
<@OvrLrd-Q> and think
<@OvrLrd-Q> "Oh so that's why it's slowing down"
<@OvrLrd-Q> and I put on my brakes to avoid the tire that's rolling down the highway
<@MrPilot> rofl
<@OvrLrd-Q> i dont mean tire I mean rim and all
<@OvrLrd-Q> bounced down the road a bit, hit the guardrail and bounced over

Journal Journal: Getting the DDoS

Nothing like a nice DDoS to clean out the connection in the morning. Evidently I pissed somebody off lol, had a good 800+ kb/s incoming UDP flood coming from spoofed IP's and before that a ICMP flood. WHeeee!

Journal Journal: Mod Points 2

Wow, looking back, I have had mod points in quite a while. Wheras I used to get em at least once a week if not more, I haven't had any in the past 3-4 months. Is there some moderating blacklist or something? I think I'll investigate :)

Journal Journal: Slashdot Code Bugs

Hi there,

Do you mind telling us how you purchased fractional quantities of a
Slashdot subscription yesterday? We're trying to figure out how to
fix this apparent bug, and it would be nice to know how you did it.
Thanks.

Journal Journal: Worse then the /. Effect

There is a thing worse then the /. effect . . . I deem it the . . . DRUDGE EFFECT (Drudge Report)

VISITS TO DRUDGE

  007,528,755 IN PAST 24 HOURS
  182,871,824 IN PAST 31 DAYS

Considering /. only does 3M+ hits a day (according to Taco's Journal), dont get linked from Drudge Report :) considering it has over twice as many hits a day as slashdot.

Journal Journal: Moderation Borked 3

Is there some Moderation Boycott I didn't hear about? I used to browse at +2 but found that way to cluttered so I changed that to +3 . . now I rarely if ever see more then 10 posts modded more then +3 per story. . . is the Moderation System borked or are people just not using their mod points or what?
