Submission + - Is there a TV to PC service that is not a scam?
An anonymous reader writes: I was looking for a way to watch the cricket world cup on my PC, and looking for a service to subscribe to. I found quite a few links but most of them trigger my caffeine driven paranoia and makes me want to steer clear... especially the ones that have "100% Legal" on their web sites.
One of the advertised google hits was http://downloadguideonline.org/tv.php which does not really inspire confidence.
Searching on Dr. Ben Gary, the reviewer, I found the follow comment on cnet forums — (scroll down to post 20 of 42) http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7597_102-0.html?forumI D=41&threadID=228232&start=15
So if the Joseph Donahue and Dr Ben Gary is the same person, is it a safe bet that you will be ripped off by their recommended sites?
I also found another 'review' site that looks like it was created by the same lot. Any site that starts in a letter form with 'Dear TV-lovers'...
http://downloadreport.info/tv.php
Some services I have found, but not yet tried... for reasons mentioned above
http://tvtopcdirect.com/
http://inet-tv.us/
http://tvonpcelite.com/
Can anyone recommend a good TV service that they use? Something that shows cricket would be a bonus :-) (I found a few sites that stream the world cup, but require you to install the 'TVU player component' from 'TVU Networks' active x control... I will try that in a virtual machine first — but first I have to go take another sip at the dark teat of my espresso machine...)
