there's light-years long queue out of here of people who would gladly accept to get shit upon their faces to get a job
Maybe if you're a burger flipper. How about developing your skillset so that you're not just another drone? There are people who are highly sought after. My wife for example was made redundant at a Fortune 500 and another large company called her the minute they found out (about a week after her notification) to offer her an even better position. She didn't have time to work on her CV before she was on a plane to do the interviews. Needless to say she got the job. And there is no question of her working from home when she wants to.
Great resource! Thanks for this link.
Keep the option to retrieve your account number by submitting your password, since even weak passwords are far harder to guess than 4-digit PIN numbers.
I don't think that's a reasonable assumption to make, particularly if you don't care about which account you get access to. Instead of guessing a lot of passwords for a single user, you can guess a small number of passwords for a lot of users. This also gets around any limits regarding access for a single account, as has been suggested as a solution. Getting multiple boxes to carry out this operation gets around limits regarding account access from a single IP address.
If you choose a sufficiently common weak password (and United's password system allows people to enter such passwords by default), then the chance of discovering a correct user/password combination is pretty high.
Sampling a few of the device's in your link, GP's claim that the devices can't be bought still seems to hold true, mostly. For example, of the devices on the first page you link to:
Can't ship out of the US: -Acer Chromebook 13 CB5-311-T1UU -Acer Chromebook 13 CB5-311-T7NN
Right, those are likely American models. My model in Germany has a different model number (it's a Full HD, 4 GB RAM model, BTW). I have it since October 2, 2014.
