The world needs scientists to speak up and drive changes in human activity on this planet (NOW). Why are we all allowing a bunch of selfish, corrupted sociapathic billionaires dictate immediate fate of the biosphere - especially the oceans. Oceanic life extinct in 2050 and civilization is allowing a tiny minority of ultra rich oil barons and aggro-businesses to effectively wipe out all life? What is crazy? The last thing this earth needs from humanity is a growing mass of entombed radioactive wastes with half-lives ranging from 30 years to 4.5 billion years. Industry will not conduct itself ethically when it's overseen by governments full of cronies cherry picked by industry itself. Corners will be cut, and hazardous events will occur. Human civilization has proven itself to lack the wisdom and moral courage to be responsible enough for the well-being of this planet's biosphere. Total energy consumption of human civilization must be brought down to sustainable levels. If humanity does not find a way to cut consumption, then human civilization and most of the remaining life on this planet (that humanity is supposed to be sharing with), will crash far sooner than anyone is publicly predicting.

Can anyone other than Bill Gates pull that off? No. Metro was betting on a "post PC age" where tablets and other gadgets rule the day. But tablets are mainly for consumption of content, not creation, nor any meaningful application such as CAD, Adobe CS suite or even office suites. Until such applications are viable on a sufficiently powerful 'tablet PC' with a large, foldable and/or rollable surface - and sensitive enough for fine grained CAD and office work user input - the keyboard/mouse/graphics tablet input/desktop monitor/PC box configuration is going to be in demand. It's too bad AMD washed up. You force feed the lame metro interface - while apparently scaling back on the continual pursuit of perfecting the windows desktop gui user experience at your own peril Microsoft. Maybe you're the new RIM/Blackberry.

The NSA wants total access to everything man-made. They could use effective restraint, but from where? Not from the useless news media, not from an ill-informed public, and certainly not from the congress nor executive branches, & apparently not from the judiciary. I'm sure those in the NSA are stopping all kinds of evil doings that human beings do. I'm leaning more on mass-extinction level event that accelerates on top of the existing mass-extinction event already in progress, that wipes out everything except maybe cockroaches.
