Comment Not just DARPA (Score 1) 122

The U.S has 18 times more military then every country combined, DARPA is just one out of many military setups that spends money on research, however most of the time they spend that money on contracts usually given to private companies to develop technology. These private companies usually develop this stuff without these contracts, I believe Boeing had a lot to do with Jet power, and other aircraft. The government handed out millions of dollars to private companies to develop aircraft designed to do specific tasks, out of the millions they spent only a few companies managed to spend that money to at least create aircraft the others spent it on themselves. Howard Hughes was tried by Congress for spending his cut of that money they claimed he failed to spend it developing any aircraft and failed to deliver the aircraft to the military, he pointed out that he had developed aircraft and numerous companies never turned in any plans or actual aircraft, and they had the same contract to develop and deliver. These Private companies have been developing technology for years without the military even being aware of it, spending the money on it only helps to accelerate its development, these days, and sadly 70% of the time it was rushed and always has some type of failure pushing technology always has more downside then upside, of course they heavily test it and continue to work on it for 10-20 years before it is considered just about fail proof. However the fact that other countries probably have become aware of these things, long before the public is ever told, (the whole every country is spying on each other they all know this but act like they don't) I find it funny the other countries can create some (not all the time) very cheap, and effective methods to counter these new technologies, considering the millions the U.S military spends to get these things developed and deployed. With private companies even Universities developing or pushing technology, I am not so sure the military or the Pentagon should be spending money on this, it helps to accelerate its development but these technologies would exist anyway.

Comment Why bother with the web site (Score 1) 180

I strongly dislike Gene, this guy is an example of what is wrong with the US the guy should have smoked some herb, drink some wine or booze maybe he would see what an ass he is. Instead he has an addiction to making himself money at any cost. I am one of the few people who hate KISS!!!. Not sure why Anonymous would even bother with a web site, hack into his money at least, he would spend even more money trying to track down who did it... And why would the FBI waste money to arrest the the person accused of hacking a 'shitty web site'?? Gene should pay for the investigation unless he did pay the FBI to catch who did it. Why did Gene even bitch over pirated music, these guys are not going to be downloading his shit music anyway.

I wonder if maybe Anonymous Hackers had a hand in this?? They threatened to expose a few cartels operations, if they did expose this to the Mexican Government I take back what I said about them. However this is only going to open the door for smaller more extreme cartels. Example after they killed Pablo Escobar it did not put a dent in the problem it just gave several other drug operations (i have know Idea why I mention this to slashdot readers most of you already know this) the green to go ahead without Pablo's Army hunting them down, and or being forced to work with Pablo.. I understand the Anonymous Hackers wanting revenge, but this group may have done a lot more harm then good, IF THEY HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT..

I felt PC Games would take over due to better graphics and better overall play. It is funny that the Amiga had some solid graphics to the games in the early 90's and late 80"s and it took a Game consoles even the PC's, 15-20 years to at least match what the Amiga was doing. But since Piracy I do not see that happening, you read about games makers refusing to put out PC versions anymore. And with small devices handling what a clunky home/office computer can do PC's maybe the first to be Doomed. I like how he used Xbox as an example many people (I think it is 60-70%) bought them because they are using them as computers, not with the intent on playing video games.

So if you live in China, or you are Chinese living in the U.S and talk shit about China's leaders the U.S. can help China's government track you down and punish the offenders?? Or is this related to spyware attacks, and hackers? Not sure what to make of this... The U.S has a boat load of ways to track countries, this agreement does not really do anything for U.S surveillance on China or China's Internet!!!!! Come on now people!!! You know that with the kind of resources the U.S has they do not need agreements to track anyone, or any country..

Comment Magazines are over rated!!! (Score 1) 91

This magazine was bound to fail... In the gaming world friends and word of mouth is what he or she relies on depending on, in his or hers genre of game . Having a gaming magazine that maybe (MAYBE) prone towards one game over another was not going to last, they had crappy cheats, good instructions (limited), or insight on how to think outside the box to beat a game. However with the internet storming along there were sites dedicated to games such as GTA (Grand Theft Auto for example out of hundreds) and GamePro fell behind, even there web site was a failure before it could get any where.
