Thanks for totally ignoring the last point that actual speeds are a fraction of the rated speeds

Depends on provider / where you live. I pay for 50 Mbps from TWC and while it varies some (it's cable, of course it'll vary some), I usually a little OVER 50 Mbps, even during peak hours. That's with multiple gamers / Netflix addicts in the house. The only time speed becomes an issue is if someone is being inconsiderate and running several torrents at a time while everyone else is trying to stream movies / download games off Steam.

Have you seen how massive games are these days? GTA V is a 60 GB download, The Evil Within is a 50 GB download, Titanfall is 30 GB, etc - all just the base games, no DLC included in those sizes. If you're barely paying more than you used to pay for a 30 - 50 Mbps connection, why WOULDN'T you go for 1 - Gbps and not have to spend hours or days downloading a new game?

Why is it OK for me to have my regular insurance and carry four friends in the car who give me money for gas, yet suddenly I need more insurance if there are four people riding in my car and paying me but I just met them?

Again, why do 99.9% of the cars on the road not need yearly expenses, but if I want to have other people ride with me that aren't friends / family members, suddenly my car needs a yearly inspection?

How did they do anything to "support the mod community"? As for the tools? They had to make them so that they could make the game - that was a sunk cost and it cost them nothing to bundle it with the game when they sold it to customers (or if they did place a value on it, they were already paid when people bought the game).

That's a load of crap. Dental insurance (even without an employer plan) is incredibly cheap and covers a thorough cleaning every six months. If you skip the cleanings (which you won't be charged extra for, just the usual monthly insurance payment) then yes, you'll need to get expensive procedures done - but that's your own damn fault for skipping preventative maintenance that wouldn't cost you anything extra.

I have to be "that guy". You were charged - and quite a bit for it, they just didn't hand you a bill after you received the service. When you factor in all taxes (VAT, fuel tax, TV tax, income tax, NHS tax, etc) even the lowest tax bracket in the UK is paying roughly 50% of their income in taxes.
