Comment Re:Does it work at all under Linux? (Score 1) 73

No problem with Kaveri and Kabini at least. Just remember to properly remove the old drivers first. On my *buntu system i do this: sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx*, reboot, sudo ./amd-driver-installer-14.501.1003-x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/trusty, sudo dpkg -i fglrx*.deb, sudo amdconfig --initial, reboot. That seems to work every time. Dunno if its necessary with all the reboots.

Maybe it's a bad translation. The essential part which I based my first post on is this: "As long as you eat picked mushrooms in moderation, it goes well." Thats because in norway there is a tradition for people to forage mushrooms in the autumn, and if you pick mushrooms in the highlands in the east(Rondane, Jotunheimen, etc) you should "eat it in moderation". As I said in my first post: "Eating lots of mushroom from a radiactive area is something i definitely would not do." I think that is a good rule-of-thumb. As for all the FUD around using nuclear energy: I agree. Nuclear energy > Coal and other fossil fuels. That does not mean you have to do bad everyday choices when it comes to eating potential contaminated foods.

From the Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority this october: http://www.nrpa.no/nyheter/920... Didnt find an english version on their site. Heres the output from translate: https://translate.google.com/t... "NRPA does not discourage people from picking mushrooms in the woods or be afraid to eat meat and drink milk. As long as you eat picked mushrooms in moderation, it goes well. When it comes to meat, mushrooms and milk going to shop, the limits apply." So, they generally advise people to not consume too much mushroom...and thats in Norway. I expect the cesium 137 levels in the area around Chernobyl to be higher, so at least bring a giegercounter :p

Eating lots of mushroom from a radiactive area is something i definitely would not do. Here in norway, you should not eat much meat from animals forraging in the highlands(sheep, raindeer...etc) every "shroom-year". Mushrooms absorb much cesium 137 from the soil. This could build up to dangerous levels in the animal meat. https://translate.google.com/t...

Only problem is that Semitic people include pretty much all of the people in the middle-east, most of whom are not jews. The word "antisemite" however, is used against jews only, even though not all jews are "semites"(like those who speak Yiddish). Since this article uses "anti-Semitic", I assume that they have censored bigotry against all sides in this conflict(except anti-European and anti-American).

Opera has had "tabs" since the start i think(at least multi-window in same instance). First version i tried was 3.65 in '98 or something. It was fast compared to Netscape and IE at the time, but js and plugins mostly didnt work. I bought version 5 and 6, and presto came in version 7 and it was all freeware from then on. Stopped using Opera last year, and migrated to Firefox. With firegestures add-on its pretty close to the core opera functionality. The laughable attitude some opera devs showed in that comment will probably keep me from ever going back to Opera even if they would make a linux version again.

The lead in this project - Terje Berntsen, says that the variation from '90s and in the '00s could be explained by natural variations. In the 00' the natural variations is canceling out the rise in CO_2 emissions, and in the '90s it was amplifying it. I still hope that the worst case scenario(a 4 degree rise) will be the "working scenario" for the solutions that will be used.

eclipse is SWT/JFACE, not AWT/SWING. Doesnt use 500 megs on my system...around 320(eclipse classic 3.7). SWT is also very fast GUI wise compared to swing, as it uses JNI do display native GUI elements. Who cares about ram usage on clients these days anyway...its cheap. Most systems have 4GB+ RAM now anyway. Vuze(former azureus) and lotus notes are also using SWT for GUI.
