Comment No, the solution is admit they are tax collectors (Score 2) 592

The truth is, facebook only collected X million dollars while making a lot more. As in, all their services and such cost a certain amount of money plus that owed to the government. It is known as embedded taxes, this is a great tool of governments to use in avoiding the general population from understanding their true tax load.

A tax on corporations is just an indirect tax on those who directly or indirect interact with that corporation. Any penny paid in taxes by the corporation comes from its customers and so on and so on.

The real fixes are open honest taxation. Let people really know how much it costs them for what they receive.

they just stopped worry about protecting workers. The real power of unions is all in government employee unions who hold an undue amount of influence over those who set their pay. Even FDR knew the pitfalls of that.

What is going to end unions is the unrepentant greed amongst the public employee unions who expect taxpayers to shut up and put up. Well a few states are well on their way that a few cities have gone, bankrupting or using financial crisis to void ridiculous promises and payouts.

Some of the worse retirement payouts and age at which they can retire is just silly to the point of sickening.

We enjoy a higher standard of living because of global wage differences. Many countries do this. Let alone, having worked with individuals from said country, many found it easier to live on their home wages at home that supposedly equivalent wages here. Most of that came from expectations, I guess.

So your going to have to alter their society to increase their costs, one way to do that would be to keep pushing their wages up but that would introduce social instability as inflation would follow the new buying power of all those earners.

Then you would need to work on the country providing them..... well eventually as you raise one country up another comes up to take its place and the guy at the top hopefully kicks themselves up another notch starting the whole.

A western corporation, any corporation, is held in check by the governments it operates under, which can rarely be said about most government controlled groups. Plus, take away the standard scare tactic. Politicians abuse the poor all the time with such tactics as "they will take your food stamps". Why do you think so many were giddy over the ACA? Because they have a new fear tactic. After all, tell me what a politician threatens to cut first?
