Submission + - Activity Recomendations for School Computer Club? 2

joshuaos writes: So when I was a kid, I got into computers through a middle school computer club. Well, my daughter is five now, and in a very small school (less than 20 kids) and I have decided to provide what I do know for these kids, and start an after school computer club! The kids will range in age from about five to thirteen, with maybe the occasional adult participating, and I was hoping this here slashdot community could give some activity suggestions. What I remember most from computer club was Doom2 and Descent, so I figured I'd start with some network games. I don't even know what games are big these days, I'm not much into games. Maybe get some usb drives and put a pre-configured OS on them to make customizing easier, but I should have nearly free rein. Bring on the ideas! :)

Submission + - Review: Obama Deception by Alex Jones

joshuaos writes: "It was released less than a week ago, can be downloaded from infowars or seen on youtube. Though I hadn't previously heard of him, Alex Jones appears to be nearly the king of conspiracy theorists. He has been at this for over a decade, and claims that what he's been predicting is now happening. Despite the rather dire tone of this film, much of what he says is quite undeniable, and the rest wouldn't surprise me much. Does it really sound so far fetched that a small clique of the richest bankers in the world are making policy in secret? Certainly the history of the Federal Reserve isn't in question, nor the way in which the new stimulus bill, like the patriot act before it, were passed in a rush without anyone reading it. The briefest of searching reveals these and more that I can't refute in this film. I hope you'll all excuse the short review, and take it as a challenge to come to your own opinions about these very important matters of where power and wealth truly lie."

The long-lasting war that NO ONE SEEMS TO BE TALKING ABOUT, that costs us billions and billions, and puts such an incredibly huge percentage of our population behind bars. Over 800,000 Americans arrested JUST LAST YEAR for JUST marijuana offenses. This is a travesty and it needs to end! Why the hell isn't anyone TALKING About it in this damn election! Joshua
