Comment Man invents new Security Camera! (Score 4, Insightful) 139

Seriously! How is an unarmed rolling video camera going to stop some idiot with a gun. Most of the time these gun toting phyco's are looking for fame to spread their "message" this will only make it worse.

The only solutions to guns are to 1.) keep the crazy's from getting guns 2.) Make sure trusted people with guns are there to stop them if step 1 fails. 3.) Make it hard for them to get at valuables (people or stuff) even if they have a gun through physical security. Anything else is just a waste of time and money IMHO.

What? I'm missing something here. What does the prison union have to do with what prisoners eat? Do they get kick backs from Kraft for buying low end Mac&Cheese? They must be an incompetent union if they can't find a way to pull graft from lettuce farmers as well as they can from Trans-Fat peddlers. I think the prison food issue has more to do with budgets; Hormel Mystery Meat #4 is a lot cheaper than fresh USDA grade B lean pork when bought in quantity.

I spend a lot of time driving across country and the worst places in my experience are the interstates in urban areas. Those areas tend to have artificially lower speed limits to deal with maximum traffic capacity for rush hour.

This is exactly why I wish we would just implement adjusting speed limits and enforce them.

I understand why Lake Shore Drive in Chicago's Speed Limit is 45mph during Rush hour, that makes total sense the road is a parking lot anyway; but why can't it be 60mph or even 65mph during the middle of the night or Sunday mornings when it's mostly empty. (You know outside of the S curve at Michigan Ave. that should stay at 25mph) Also, if we had speed limits that adjusted we could have to speeds change based on road conditions. That way we can make it illigal for that idiot in the BMW to go 55mph when the road is all ice and its barely safe to go 30mph.

I just don't see how getting cell type A from donor 1 is any different than getting cell type B. You are still violating "God's Gift of life" by taking cells from another.

I also don't click on such attachments or Facebook posts. I have relatives sending me links to such Christmas or Birthday card sites and I choose not to click the link. Just a tad paranoid I guess

That doesn't sound paranoid to me. Most of my relatives don't even know how to shut down their laptops and just leave them in sleep till the battery dies and then wonder why the battery's are shot after a year. They are also way to trusting online, they might get a spam email saying "CHECK OUT R NEW CHRSTMS CARD APP!!!" and click on it and then use the malware site to send all there friends/family a "Christmas Card" which infects there computer an who ever opens it.

My general rule is, if it's from my Mom, Sisters, or cousin don't click on links. My Dad is fine though he's more security paranoid than I am. My Dad won't even attach his work laptop to his own home network any more because he doesn't trust my Mom or Sisters. LOL

Since they wrote there software and have all the source how hard do you think it would be for them to recompile it from x86 to ARM? If it was written in .NET it's a switch at the top of VisualStudio. The real issue is getting it signed by M$ so that it can run on the crippled OS that is WinRT. But since they are buying a ton of tablets from M$ I'm sure they will work that out.

Thanks Beardydog! The edge-online article brought up a good point. According to the article the GPU drivers at this point are very immature for both systems and as a result direct comparisons of power are probably not definitive at this point. However, if the Xbox One is harder to program for effectively then that really will be a boon for the PS4 in the long run.

Submission + - Developers Claim Xbox One Performance Much Weaker Than PlayStation 4 (hothardware.com) 2

MojoKid writes: One of the ongoing debates between the Xbox One and PS4 revolves around the expected performance difference between the two consoles. Reportedly, developers have privately stated that the PS4 is significantly faster. A console agnostic game can, according to sources, run at 30 FPS in 1920x1080 on the PS4, but in the mid-20s on the Xbox One, even with a lower 1600x900 target resolution. Microsoft's response to this controversy has been straightforward and expected with the claim that "Xbox One architecture is much more complex than what any single figure can convey." From a game developer's perspective, the question of whether the PS4 is theoretically faster than the Xbox One is less important than whether the PS4's performance is easier to utilize. The Xbox 360 had a noted advantage over the PS3 in precisely this area — Sony's console was much more difficult to program and the company's dev tools weren't as good. Thus, many cross-platform titles looked better on the Xbox 360, particularly in the early years, because it took less effort to customize the game to run on esoteric hardware. But there's another wrinkle here, and it's every bit as important. If Game X looks slightly better on PS4 than Xbox One, but you have to put the two versions side-by-side to tell, then Microsoft is going to walk away without a problem. Modern gamers aren't stupid — how much you like a console will depend on everything from your opinion of the UI, additional apps, streaming capabilities, brand loyalty and general experience with the product. In other words, if you love Kinect, Halo, and other MS tie-ins, a better-looking Game X on PS4 won't be enough to sway you if the difference isn't egregious.
