Submission + - Deleted Scenes From Star Trek 2009 (techfleece.com) 1

TheGift73 writes: "Whenever films are made, there will always be certain scenes that didn’t make the cute for various reasons. In Star Trek 2009 there are some amazing scenes that didn't make the final cut, so I have taken a load of screen shots of some of the best parts and written a brief explanation as to what is happening and how it relates to the actual film.
Hope you like it."

Submission + - The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 3 HD Plus Images (techfleece.com)

TheGift73 writes: "Wow. This is definitely the best trailer for The Dark Knight Rises yet, and by has a lot more action and fight scenes than before.
I know that people sat that too many trailers get shown for massive blockbusters like The Avengers and such, but there’s no chance this will affect the films experience at all for people."

Submission + - The Avengers Facebook Timeline (techfleece.com)

TheGift73 writes: "I’ve been following Team Pwnicorn over at Funny or Die for a long time now as they never fail to make me laugh. Their latest endeavours follow the fictitious Facebook banter between the Avengers team which are guaranteed to make you smile."

Submission + - Global Broadband Speeds Dropped at the end of 2011 (enterprisenetworkingplanet.com)

darthcamaro writes: A strange thing happened at the end of 2011. For the first time in years, global broadband adoption and speeds dropped. According to Akamai, broadband adoption declined by 4.6 percent and average speeds declined by 14 percent.
In a somewhat strange twist, New Jersey now also dominates the top 5 list of fastest broadband cities in the U.S, though Boston is the fastest overall at 8.4 Mbps

The Courts

Submission + - UK Court Orders UK ISP's To Block The Pirate Bay (techfleece.com)

TheGift73 writes: The UK High Court today ruled that 6 of the countries ISP's must block users from accessing The Pirate Bay. This is not only a slippery slope to complete censorship of sites that don't comply with corporate mandates, but also sets a dangerous precedent for the future.

Submission + - New international trailer for Prometheus (techfleece.com)

TheGift73 writes: This is by far the best trailer they have released for Prometheus, in that we are given a better insight as to what the crew of the Prometheus are looking for and we are also introduced to a new alien. (plant type thing)
The trailer also seems to be a bit darker in atmosphere compared to the previous ones.

Submission + - George Hotz, Sony, and Anonymous (newyorker.com)

nicholast writes: "A story in The New Yorker about George Hotz, that takes you from his childhood to today. Explains how he hacked the iPhone and the PS3, how Sony reacted, and then how Anonymous fought back. It also explains Hotz's ambivalence about Anons. “I’m George Hotz. Everything I do is aboveboard, everything I do is legit.” The piece ends with Hotz meeting with Sony and explaining his methodology."

Submission + - Surface-to-Air Missiles at London Olympics (techfleece.com)

TheGift73 writes: I have to admit, when I first read about this I thought it was a hoax, but unfortunately it’s true. The UK government are to place Surface-to-Air missiles on residential building in London for the duration of the London Olympics.
