Although these days the hardware is System 390/Z-series, but I still login via TSO, I review COBOL code with comments going into 1980 (and yes, they all have Y2K patches)... The financial industry *never* throws anything away (especially if it's still making them money). Except programmers. Those they throw away.

The other reply you are castigating has a point, and I'm open to his suggestion that we keep our minds open. As soon as they provide CONCRETE EVIDENCE of such a "magic man in the sky", then I can be turned to their postulation.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and so far they haven't provided much. When there's proof of god published in a scientific journal, along with repeatable experiments garnering repeatable results, then I'm ready to accept that as theory.

After all, he was palling around with a known terrorist.

In fact, given the 6 degrees of separation factor, almost *every* American has an association with a terrorist, and even if not, the definition of terrorist can be widely expanded to make sure that you're an associate of a terrorist. Think about how many names are on that no-fly list...

Why does every one of these people campaign on a platform of "government is the problem, reduce the size of the government!", and then once in office, immediately create bills that INCREASE the size of government, pry into your personal life such as who you sleep with, and if you're a woman, even when you can have sex, and generally make it so that government *is* indeed the problem because *they* made it so?

I'm surprised no one here has yet mentioned Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future -- a spectacular kids show that had a surprisingly complex plotline considering the goal of the show was mostly to sell toys.

We had only one season, which essentially ended with a cliffhanger (although it was pretty obvious "Pilot" died), but, if there had been the funds to do a second season, any thoughts about where you would have gone with the show?

Prosecutor: He hacked into the NY Times and stole email addresses.

Comment ISS (Score 3, Interesting) 878

Next up: Russians "deport" American astronauts from ISS, as they are the only country with a manned space flight program. How ironic; we spend many billions to build it, and then scrap our only way of getting to it. Nice plan. No wonder USA is number 37.

Someday USA might be a great country, but this decade and the next is not that day.

USA is now filled with religious, science-denying blowhards that will turn this country into a backwater 3rd world with nuclear weapons and offshore billionaires that own the government. Just look at Greenspan's comments. We'll all be shooting each other for food in a few years, while CEOs sit on piles of cash that guarantee they are comfortable for 6 or 7 generations.
