THAT's the part I have a problem with. We didn't like it when the Soviet Union had their hands in the cookie jar there and then left with their tails between their legs. We're not doing any better. I don't have a problem with give soldiers A/C. They deserve a lot more than they get. It just seems to me that this is not a fight they are ever going to win.

Excellent point. Bottom line is that publishers of (insert media choice here) need to make money. They deserve money for producing the products.
This guy is doing it right. If someone can't afford (or doesn't want to) spend money on the book, they can download the PDF file.
If you like it and prefer hardcopy, then purchasing the printed version is a great way to pay him for his work. Or the other way is the Donate button so you can give him at least a token of your appreciation for his work for the PDF version.

I agree, this movie didn't need the 3D effects. It stood on it's own merits like the story line, acting, and 2D effects. To me, 3D is for movies that they don't think they will sell well with 2D, so they figure they'll just throw in 3D and the masses will come.

The only reason I Jailbroke mine was that I couldn't hear the damn email tone. It's like they went into a meeting and figured out what was the only noise other than a dog whistle that people couldn't hear unless they were in a anechoic chamber.

Seriously, why the hell won't they let you pick the email tone???

New Wii Menu Update Targets Homebrew Again 258

Nintendo has tried to block homebrew during firmware updates in the past, often unsuccessfully. Now, as it rolls out version 4.3 of the Wii System Menu, stopping homebrew modifications once again seems to be its primary goal. From Nintendo's support site: "Because unauthorized channels or firmware may impair game play or the Wii console, updating to Wii Menu version 4.3 will check for and automatically remove such unauthorized files." Since it's hard to bill that as an upgrade, they vaguely add, "In addition, there are some behind the scenes enhancements that do not affect any prominently-used features or menus but will improve system performance."

MA High School Forces All Students To Buy MacBooks 1217

An anonymous reader sends in this excerpt from the Salem News: "A new program at Beverly High will equip every student with a new laptop computer to prepare kids for a high-tech future. But there's a catch. The money for the $900 Apple MacBooks will come out of parents' pockets. 'You're kidding me,' parent Jenn Parisella said when she found out she'd have to buy her sophomore daughter, Sky, a new computer. 'She has a laptop. Why would I buy her another laptop?' Sky has a Dell. Come September 2011, every student will need an Apple. They'll bring it to class and use it for homework. Superintendent James Hayes sees the technology as an essential move to prepare kids for the future. The School Committee approved the move last year, and Hayes said he's getting the news out now so families can prepare. 'We have one platform,' Hayes said. 'And that's going to be the Mac.'"
