Comment A poor comment by a CEO. (Score 1) 671

A couple of things wrong with this picture:

First, this undermines the motto of Google: Do No Evil. It shows that they are starting to get the Swelled Head Syndrome, thinking that they have the most power by the massive databases they have compiled. Wrong way of thinking!

Second, CEO's do NOT make such comments unless they are permitted to do so by their assistants. Same goes for any leader of any company or country. He overshot this mandate badly by making this comment.

Officially, he just walked into a minefield almost completely filled with pratfalls and booby traps concerning personal privacy.

I think Google should issue a retraction and make a personal apology, SOONEST!

Considering the lack of attention to the details of improving rural service, I feel that they do not deserve a single nickle of gov't funding.

Fact is, they got a lot of gall for asking for more money after the stunning YTD they posted on the market, both wireless and wired.

Until they can show REAL (as in purchase orders for equipment, permits for installation of same, they really do not deserve any outside funding at all.

They've been living off the fat for this long, I think that it would be high time to put them on some lean rations for a while.

If you are referring to BSG'80, yeah.

If it is the new BSG, are you frackin' kidding me? That has to be one of the most intense sci-fi shows to hit the airwaves for a long time.

The original BSG had its ups and downs, and good episodes. Sure, it had 70's cliche' in a lot of their terms and props, but the overall show kept you in your seat.

They just reinvented RADAR for pity's sake! What is 802.xx? 2-5GHZ Microwave frequencies! It's rather like reinventing the wheel, only this time they used millimeter band, low powered microwaves to do it with. Hooray they are able to use it as a poor man's license-free RADAR system, I'll give them credit for that.

Weight restrictions vs performance. The envelope is filled to 25% capacity with helium, then released. As the balloon ascends, the gas expands, filling the envelope completely. Once it reaches altitude, it will stay there until either the membrane fails or programmed cutter severs the the tether, letting the payload descend back to the ground. A release valve would prolong the flight, but with amateur rides like this, they usually let it ride up until it bursts at a calculated altitude from the overpressure. 100K feet is impressive and the video is stunning.

Battery usage is fine and all that, but the current rage is thermal management. This has gotten more than one manufacturer (literally and figuratively) in hot water. The biggie was Apple with their 175-200F Intels in their MacBook Pros. All they had to say was don't run them so hard.

Heh.

Next you got Dell and their weenie-cooking laptops that seared some poor Padre's phallus, giving him 2nd degree burns.
No comment from Dell's higher-ups... What a way to make it right with the Lord guys...

And last, but not the least, HP and their tabletop scorching units that don't seem to quit cooking until some poorly designed component that can't stand the heat finally either cooks or fall off the board. No comment from them either, not even a canned statement with some instructions about how to keep your laptops cool.

Do you have a proper transfer switch and a control panel that exercises the generator? Usually it has a biweekly cycle that runs the unit for 15 minutes to warm the oil, then shuts it off. The really good control panels have a test cycle option that cuts out curb power and cuts in the generator in a predetermined manner. This saves wear and tear on the main breakers, preserving them so that they will do their job properly when The Event happens.

If not, I would strongly recommend getting in touch with your generator's vendor and upgrade your control center for it.

I've heard of a 25KW generator blowing it's generator with a roar due to poorly bonded armature wiring.
