You can also for free have them set it up so that they do phone authentication when you login from a different IP address.
I noticed the same thing when I got a dashboard update. IMHO, the companies should be able to change their legal policies on the fly -- as long as they are willing to refund you for all of the equipment/software/etc you have purchased if you don't find it acceptable.
Things were looking pretty bad for a while. They had a large number of low pop servers and it really made it feel like you were playing a single player game with a subscription model.
A few months ago they began consolidating servers and it had a significant (beneficial) result in the game. Between that and the implementation of "Group Finder" features, the result is that you have access to a lot more players to do content with which makes for a much nicer levelling and end-game experience.
Our file server cluster is still on hardware (although I do plan on virtualizing it eventually) so I don't have any experience with users running Access off of a virtualized file server, but I find this very surprising. I don't think Access is doing anything "special" with respect to file system access and its hard to imagine why it would behave any differently.
SQL server, Exchange, etc all are running wonderfully.

Is this journalism or a stealth advertisement?
I'm hoping it isn't the latter because Slashdot editors should know how furious people will be if they ran commercially paid for articles without labeling them as thus (especially ironic given how much coverage this sort of activity gets on Slashdot)
I don't mind seeing information about commercial products that may be interesting to geeks -- but this made me feel dirty.
.. or can we?
I don't like the idea of having my emails, sms, etc downloaded by the police w/o warrant. I know they have some devices that download the contents of your smartphone. If you have a jailbroken iPhone, is there anything you can do to encrypt?
Slashdot has been my daily read since late 90s. I love this site. It must feel incredible to see something you've helped build grow into this.
Agreed. My wife and I have played through every character. I'm not going to say it is the best game ever made, but it has been one of the funnest games to play for us.
