Can anyone recommend software for MacOSX that does the same thing? That's (preferably) free?

I do the same thing with my iPhone - both with contacts and with my calendar. And it goes both ways - entries I make in my iPhone contacts or calendar appear in my Gmail contacts or Google calendar almost instantly.

FW800 devices use different connectors than FW400 and thus require adapters, while the USB 3.0 connector will plug into a USB 2.0 port (and run at USB 2.0 speed).

Some tips: turn off 3G if you aren't using it (if your iPhone supports 3G), turn off Bluetooth if you aren't using it, turn your screen brightness down, use the button at the top to turn the screen off when you aren't using it, etc.

Or perhaps you just have a bum battery (or your battery is almost worn out). There are battery replacement services that can install a higher capacity battery than the original one, if you want to go that route.

Easton Press. Their books are hella expensive, but very good quality. They're sold on a subscription basis.

Barnes & Noble (and probably other publishers) have a few here and there, but they're of inferior quality, in general.

Where I used to work, we held a "contest" to determine what our naming convention would be. The winners were appliance manufacturers for servers (sunbeam, hotpoint, maytag, etc.), candy bars for workstations (reeses, heath, skor, crunch, etc.).

Of course after using all the common ones and digging into the past (bighunk, marathon, etc.) we eventually ran low on candy bar names, and had to "cheat" a little, using wrigley, twizzler, etc.

It worked well - we had fairly low turnover so the names became identified with the user over time. It seemed to give the servers and workstations a "personality" as well.
