The Bhut Jolokia chili pepper from Assam, India is no ordinary pepper. In tests first conducted by the New Mexico State University in 2008 and subsequently confirmed by Guinness World records and others, the Bhut Jolokia reached over one million Scoville heat units, while the next hottest, the Red Savina Habenero, clocks in at a mere 577,000. Scoville units are a universally accepted measure of chili hotness."

Having lived here for ten years, most recently in an older residential area, I can attest to its accuracy — Living in such close proximity to your neighbors, it becomes necessary to 'not look' at everything that you might be able see from a place such as the street, where you may have a legal right to be. I Believe in Irrational Property writes: "Vladimir Dikhtyar and his team at Tel Aviv University in Israel have managed to produce a new non-lethal weapon which fires ball lightning. After testing it on willing participants, they dubbed it the "Ball Blaster." Said one participant, 'It hurts like hell, but you're back to normal in a few minutes with just a few scorch marks and some numbness. Oh, and the less said about how they came up with the "ball blaster" name, the better.' They create the effect by discharging a bank of high capacity capacitors through a Tesla coil coupled with a maser and a reloadable tube of nitrogen dioxide and silica. The downside is that you only get off one shot per capacitor bank and there are leakage problems which prevent you from storing charged capacitor banks for too long. They're also working on magnetic 'armor' which can block the ghostly projectiles. So far, though, they do not have a theoretical understanding of how the gun works. It is hoped that further study of how the device works will unravel the mysteries of ball lightning.

Klüft and Holm, reigning Olympic champions in the heptathlon and high-jump events, argue that competitors at the highest level should either have computer chips implanted into their skin or GPS transmitters attached to their training bags so that the authorities can keep tabs on them at all times."

After holding several public hearings that overwhelmingly opposed the relaxation of the rules, and Congressional hearing where Democrats and Republicans (even Ted 'Tubes' Stevens) voiced opposition to the move, the FCC voted 3 to 2 to relax ownership. On the same day the FCC voted 3 to 2 (by a different split) to cap the size of any cable company at 30% of the nationwide market, a limit Comcast is up against."

The study fits children with accelerometers to measure how much energy each child uses in a day by moving. The results are surprising. Those children who do sports at school do not burn more calories than those who don't. Furthermore there is no correlation between body mass index and the number of calories used! The results are very interesting, suggesting that genetics and diet are the main reasons for childhood obesity, not sport. The UK government is trying to increase the amount of sport in schools."
