Since when /. pay for windows? Do you think MS would go with buying a $299 laptop with a $10/month subscription? They may go with 2 year subscription free. After that, your computer would stop getting updates. But if you pay $x (either a monthly or annual fee), you are getting windows as well as onedrive, skype, ms office, etc. I think this model works. I never paid a penny to MS directly until I saw the offer on office 365. I couldn't resist even it does not worth the money for MS office alone, but combined with unlimited onedrive, skype, etc, I bit.

I don't remember I've hired anyone screened by HR. HR requires the job description and skill set written down in a way they could digest. When I hire people, I'm less concern about people's skill matching what's on the job description, but more concern about the person's knowledge in general, ability to adapt to changing environment, and whether a fit to the group. I don't know how to write these criteria down in the job description.

I intentionally created really detailed job description/requirements which I don't think HR could find anyone matches the requirements. To my surprise, they found 2 individuals which their skill-sets on their resumes match the requirements.

I would have thought that the cost of the physical train is likely a small fraction of the fare price consumers pay. It probably wouldn't help consumers that much, if any.

These gun / weapon companies are forward thinking. Real guns could be cheaper and better than 3D printed guns today, it may be a different story a few years from now.

I think you got a point. The "free" in open source means "freedom" to me. I'm free to choose what works for me. When comes to support, company could choose to support windows or redhat but it is almost impossible to support *my* linux.

We need additional law to prevent people from printing 3d gun because gun companies will lost revenue. Not safety reason. I can also tell you that it is almost cheaper, easier, faster, and more efficient for ISIS to acquire weapons than acquiring these stupid 3D printers.

I suspect Apple is making this news release because of secret court order asking them to do. It is the same as law enforcement saying imessage is uncrackable. All they (the government) want is for you to voluntary turning over your information thinking that they are secured.

That reminded me what my wife told me at her company event recently. He said most management uses either iphone or blackberry while most younger staff members use android. Mind you that may be change because of the bigger and badder iphone 6 size. :-)

I can't wait to receive discount for being a good driver. By tracking my usage pattern on my phone, insurance companies will be surprised how good am I when I'm behind the wheel. They will all fight to get me as a customer. In turn, I will go out to pay a $25 cheapo phone and tell them that is my main phone. They can track it day and night, the phone will never get used whether I'm behind the wheel or in my house :-) I can't wait.
