Submission + - Malware removes rival rootkits (channelregister.co.uk)

RNLockwood writes: The Register reports that Trend Micro has detected a trojan, that they call Pushu-AC, that removes root kits only to install a back door. "The Pandex Trojan stops previously installed rootkits from working by removing their hooks into system calls. Pandex then installs its own rootkit component..." Read about "virus writers at war" by Trend Micro Free is good, right?

Submission + - Using Brain to Remember Songs is Criminal

Shellback3 writes: "NewsTarget, http://www.newstarget.com/022437.html, had a story on New Year's Eve: "RIAA Declares Using Brain to Remember Songs is Criminal Copyright Infringement".

"The brain is a recording device," explained RIAA president Cary Sherman. "The act of listening is an unauthorized act of copying music to that recording device, and the act of recalling or remembering a song is unauthorized playback."

"In order to avoid engaging in unauthorized copyright infringement, consumers will now be required to immediately forget everything they've just heard — a skill already mastered by U.S. President George Bush."

Couldn't wait until April First I guess."
