NOTHING is going to happen in California. Their budget is a joke. They have a double digit sales tax rate and the biggest deficit out of every state

Perhaps you should come up to date on California's budget situation. Even if California had the biggest deficit in the past, California has the largest economy of any state, by a wide margin, making everything relating to finances bigger in California than any other state.

California doesn't even have the highest sales tax rate.

Really, I have to wonder what Microsoft is thinking these days.

Maybe they want to win back the consumer market they lost? Perhaps diversify a bit?

I just appreciate that they need to compete, and they are forcing their major competitors to bring new things to the table. Otherwise we might be looking at a repeat of mid-2000s, with stagnation like happened in Windows XP and IE 6... just with Apple or Google at the helm this time.

That's not Oracle that's ANSI/ISO SQL Standard. Complain to them.

From what I can find, the standard length is 18. That appears to be a minimum, not a maximum.

Regardless, everyone else that matters supports more. Why not Oracle?

30 characters seems pretty long to me.

There is no reason that we have to pick one and abandon work on the others. I don't see that the same resources go into solving more than one, except that the meteor and volcano problem have one solution in common - be on another planet when it happens.

The clathrate problem and nuclear war have the potential to end the human race while it is still on one planet, so we need to solve both of them ASAP.

I assume that the plane was rerouted on a pretty much direct route from where they were to Atlanta. They'd want to make sure that the airplane stayed over relatively unpopulated areas in the event of an explosion.

And if it strays off its assigned route? Do you really think they are going to shoot it down?
