Submission + - DIY Pixel Qi screens available (pixelqi.com)

16384 writes: MAKE and Pixel Qi announced today the availability of a revolutionary LCD display technology from Pixel Qi — the 3Qi display. This one-of-a-kind, plug-and-play 10.1-inch display offers two modes: an easy-to-read, real color, multi-media mode or a crisp, low power e-reader mode. Indeed, the sunlight-ready, e-reader mode makes it easy to use outdoors. The 3Qi display is on sale now at makershed.com.

The Bible: Those who believe shall be able to do miracles, such as drink poison and not get hurt, or heal the sick (Mark 15:17). So if you follow Christ and you can't do those things, then......yeah, you've just falsified it.

The most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20. (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark%2016&version=NIV)

Why not:

John 13:35 (New International Version)

By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

The excessive brightness is only a small part of the problem. While in theory the picture in a LCD displays should be clearer and steadier than that of a CRT, in practice various problems (such as FRC - Frame rate control to make a 6 bit display look like it has more colors), backlight flicker, the backlight itself (in practice you are staring at a fluorescent light) end up making most LCD displays harder on your eyes than a CRT. If someone knows of a specific LCD or another PC display technology that doesn't have this problems please post about it.

A few years ago I also worked with VB5. I made a custom control created with VB5 (that made an OCX) and a regular application that used that control. Once, I started to get weird errors, and I traced it to one or two functions that would get bogus data as their parameters. Had to revert turn off the compiler and use the byte-code interpreter to "fix" that. The control I created had once a form (I think, it's been a while) that became obsolete. However when I deleted it stuff would stop working, so I just left it there... No to mention that VB5 would leak memory if you were not careful with dynamic stuff and some other annoyances. On the other hand VB is a fairly powerful language and a very productive one.

On bug reporting, I once found myself in dll hell, because we only shipped a full distribution once, and would then automatically update only the .exe (which is unsupported). The two (paid) support calls were useless, as they gave only basic advice. I would latter find out that IT had automatically upgraded some software, which in turn changed some .dlls on my dev pc, which broke the dependencies for mostly everyone else.
