what can a normal user do against these smart asses?

Here's an idea. Get a Linux based router (I have a Linksys with DD-WRT) and use it to muck with any connections coming from his MAC address. You could block all his Bittorrent connections and redirect his HTTP connections somewhere else (such as a rickroll or goatse). Do this long enough to annoy the heck out of him and then block him completely using a higher grade encryption (such as WPA2) and/or MAC filtering.

MAC filtering? SERIOUSLY?

That is just so wrong.

I'd STILL be cheering after all these years...

Look what we're doing to ourselves... We've done more damage to our country than the terrorists ever could have hoped to do directly...

We proved it.. Terrorisim works! And works fuckin awesome too! Not directly.. But the whole country losing its fucking mind, wasting BILLIONS, is sure a huge victory for the terrorists.

Way to go my fellow sheeple americans. Fuckin ijits.

You are 100% correct unfortunately.

Of course copyright law isn't working.

Traveling to other galaxies will never work either even if we enact laws to make it so.

These guys just don't get it. There will always be people who steal intellectual property and there will always be people who pay.

Why waste so much time and effort fighting a losing battle?

Comment Links Golf (Score 1) 275

I think MS made a huge mistake selling Access Software which they bought for its Links Golf game. They sold it to Take Two in '04 and it's basically been laid to rest by them.

Looking at the PC golf scene now is a pitiful exercise in frustration. EA quit making PC versions of Tiger Woods golf after the '08 version. Golf gamers only have console versions for now where if MS had kept the Links franchise alive I suspect it would be dominating right now.

EA does have Tiger Woods Online which runs from a plugin to your web browser but they did what many companies do and released it from beta long before it was a real product. A quick look at the forums for TWO pretty much tells the story: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/forums/show/3732.page

Just wait till you see Doom 2. 7x 720k floppy disks? No game after Doom come close in making a truly awesome rocket launcher, imo.

Doom2 was the start of an overused greedy "re-label it and sell it again" era.

Doom and Doom2 were exactly the same engine except in Doom2 they gave you a double barreled shotgun and a few new monsters.

EVE Player Loses $1,200 Worth of Game Time In-Game 620

An anonymous reader writes "Massively.com has reported that an EVE Online player recently lost over $1,200 worth of in-game items during a pirate attack. The player in question was carrying 74 PLEX in their ship's cargo hold — in-game 'Pilot's License Extensions' that award 30 days of EVE Online time when used on your account. When the ship was blown up by another player, all 74 PLEX were destroyed in the resulting blast, costing $1,200 worth of damage, or over 6 years of EVE subscription time, however you prefer to count it. Ow."
