Macs had cooperative multitasking since 1984. Windows 3.0 also had cooperative multitasking. It didn't need dos emulation and weird graphics hacks as it was built from the ground up rather than an add on hack for Windows. Mac II was color in 1987.

My point is Windows was a low grade hack until Windows 95 where it became a pseudo OS with more hacks upon hacks to get anything to work until XP came along and kicked the nasty model to the curb for all pcs

You know just because you all hated the leather background in the Mac address book does not mean you need to get rid of shininess, chrome, depth perception, and other features which actually helped the user distinguish which Window was active.

I know NO ONE and I mean NO ONE besides hipster graphic designers afraid to have anything modern looking on their portfolio as other hipster artist look at them before hiring them. It didn't need one. Windows and pascal were part of the toolkit. I hated Windows back in the day but was no apple fan boy. Apple was ahead as was others such as Amiga and sunos.

But corporate users needed their apps and rest was history. Windows didn't get ok until XP AND good until 7 ... then 8 sigh

Corporations cared for just software. Users who were neophytes used what came with work amd found these, machines intimidating and didn't like change.

I left vbox for vmware workstation 11 back in 2012 . The version number still hasn't changed?? Whether number 5 is in beta or not is irrelevant. This is not a rant on vbox but Oracle.

Oracle doesn't give a rats ass as they want vbox to suck in comparison to their $$$$ solutions. Meanwhile vmware and hyperV are moving forward with support for later version of Windows and Linux.

It starts becoming jittery with Chrome at only 7 tabs and a few apps open. An adblocker for performance is a must for it

Well the last few places are run the same. If you are not an IT company the MBAs will fight tooth and nail not to touch what works as IT employees are plumbers. A cost center where data moves through pipes. Just reality and consider myself happy to have a job. Some don't or work minimum wage trapped.

Java is around for no technical reasons. It is here because it is already here. Why change for the sake of change and .NET wasn't worth the effort in 2005 as IIS was a steamy piece of poo back then. So now no one wants to take the risk and $$$$ for something that already works. Yes we stayed on XP too until 2014 but my employer is not alone.

It professionals are mighty spoiled compared to other fields. My ex was a teacher and was treated like shit and needed more education and paid half of what most reading this are. That is the free market at work
