"Assad would be no less cruel if he were atheist or christian"
Religion does not factor into Assad's cruelty - he's a DENTIST!
Simple solution to thwart those who would emotionalize the debate in the manner you suggest - hold the debate on a cross-country flight to Orlando.
Shimon Peres and Arafat should have split an award. They both (ultimately) worked towards peace in a situation where peace was (and remains) a pipe dream.
Gandhi clearly should have gotten a peace prize.
This underscores the fact that there is a flaw in the decision process.
While I share your exasperation at the pervasive feminSJW tilt slashdot has undergone recently, I have to point out that in the US, usage of the name "Kim" still skews heavily to the female gender.
Obama's ludicrous Peace prize was more jarring to your conscience than Henry Kissinger's? Something isn't right here. You're either very young and unaware of the dubious history of this prize, or you have personal issues that cloud your judgment of the inanity of obviously stupid Nobel awards.
Why? Lisa speaks eloquently. Simpsons canon does not indicate that Maggie cannot write. Perhaps that's how she conspired to plan the Burns assissination.
"'Women are not paid less if they are doing the same jobs and spending the same time doing them as men do, '
demonstrably false."
OK then - demonstrate it.
Talk about a meaningless number to pull from your ass! How much do male nurses in Seattle make compared to female nurses, when they work the same jobs on the same schedules? How much do female garbage collectors make compared to male garbage collectors, again when they work the same job for the same hours?
The SJW manipulation of vague statistics doesn't do anyone any good.
It was laughable nonsense because I haven't leased a modem from them for some time now, and back when I did that modem did not have any wireless features. Even if I was currently leasing a wifi-capable modem from them, why should there be a separate line item for "home wifi" in addition to the modem lease? They are not providing any extra service - if they want to charge more for leasing the wifi-capable modems, they should say so, not tack on a deceptive extra "service" charge. Charging a fee for a "service" that they are not providing is sleazy any way you look at it.
I noticed a $10 line item on a recent TWC bill for "Home WIFI." I went through the chat option on their website to inquire what this was, and how TWC might think it is provisioning wifi in my home despite my owning my own cable modem and WAP. They told me that they could remove the line item, but that wifi would no longer work in my home. Laughable nonsense. I called their bluff and my bill dropped $10. I wish I had saved a transcript of that chat. They prey on people who don't know any better.
The USPS *is* the future.
They'll get no more of my money until Bezos has a sex change.
OK - I'll bite. Dollars seem to be pretty negligible here. Equipment to capture the images? Already there. Hardware to generate the model? Sunk cost - re-up every 3 years to keep it fresh. Software development? More or less done, not that it is a prohibitive cost in the first place. Administration of the hardware? They still pay sysadmins somewhere? Training on how to use it? Surely not much more than the cost of a hospital aspirin per trainee.
What's the huge financial burden here?
Do we count Fort Hood or not?
