I saw all of the Star Trek movies by Abrams and I honestly can not remember the plot line of any of them. There was nothing objectionable about them, I guess they were okay movies; they had decent effects and scenes... but I can not remember what they were about.

I think of them like candy (not chocolate). Utterly devoid of any nutrition but they taste pretty good. I would rather have a nice steak.

I can recite the plots of all of the non-Abrams Star Trek movies, even the bad ones. I wonder why...

That is because you are an ignorant slob who wouldn't know good design if it bit you in the ass. You should be thankful that someone educated in the arts and in usability is improving your interface for you. Who wants to use those crappy, non-artistic interfaces that were "designed" by unenlightened engineers from days long forgotten?

Essentially, if you object to the interface, you are just an old fashioned luddite who is incapable of adapting to the modern world.

I do not trust large corporations to not poison me while making fake meat. They were willing to kill their own babies in China just to pocket a little extra money (look up melamine). I am sure they (not just Chinese) would have no hesitation at all about poisoning adults too.

Evolution is still happening. The "we" that you are postulating will not exist in a thousand years. If we were to separate 2 groups of humans for a thousand years, it is possible that they would be totally separate species if there were sufficient evolutionary pressure.

In other words, kill yourself* to improve the species if you think the current state of the human species is so terrible.

*not saying that to be a dick, just pointing out that is how evolution happens: death of the organism, growth of the new slightly different organism.

My Macbook Pro is from mid 2010. I stopped "upgrading" at Snow Leopard because that is when OS X went off the deep end. Snow Leopard itself actually annoys me with the "integrated app store" bullshit. I wanted a Unix based laptop with a semi-reasonable GUI and all I would have if I upgraded to the latest is an ugly IOS device doing everything it can to get me to buy shit.

And it shows that YOU are out of touch as well... but at least you appear to care. The long and short of it is that they CAN'T work 3 jobs because each 20 hour employer varies the schedule wildly from week to week in an attempt to keep the 20 hour employee from working any other jobs.

Why does an employer care if you have another job outside of your 20 hours? I would assume it is to ensure that your other commitments do not interfere with the job they hired you for. I really do not know... but it is absolutely fucking evil. Either pay enough for a person to live or schedule them reliably so they can work another job too.

If the IT sector were really that devoid of workers with an iota of critical thinking ability, the entire state of IT in the country would be in shambles.

Erm... it *is* in shambles. Ever used a Microsoft Operating system? Pure crap. No useful indication of what it is doing, no useful error messages, and it behaves semi-randomly. Let's not even get into the usable aspects of it (Windows 8). How about Heartbleed? How about the state of Linux Audio? Intentional backdoors? Default passwords? Botnets?

My god, you do not see the absolute shambles IT is in? There is no strawman. IT is currently one huge clusterfuck from hell. ITIL is an effort (arbitrary, but an effort) at putting some order and sense into IT but compared to the state of chaos that exists, it is just a drop in the bucket.
