The CISSP certification does not grant intelligence. It demonstrates that you are familiar with certain concepts, not that you can string them together intelligently.

Holding a CISSP is not a sign of incompetence; although I have met many CISSP holders who were utterly and completely and contemptibly incompetent.

Blame Americans if you must but that kind of hatred is fucking rampant in this world. In Saudi Arabia, they can execute you. They just passed some laws in Russia that make the Arizona law look tame in comparison... and you fucking blame the Americans for hatred? Go fuck yourself.

This. Be brutally honest with yourself. Especially if a new company is trying to get you for less than you are worth. This raises important questions:

1. Why can't they afford you? Lack of revenue, or is it a decision to try and muscle in people at lower rates? Both come with their own set of problems.
2. If they can't afford to pay you what you are worth - what will the rest of the team look like? How will that impact the success of the company (and your own success in the job?)
3. High expectations in combination with a pay cut suggests a mindset geared towards exploitation and manipulation. That's a giant red flag - others are a company that touts a culture that has high demands of it's employees. Some companies use stress and challenge as a way to keep employees (and their salaries) in check. Avoid like the plague.
4. Check working hours. Some smaller companies (especially those that either can't afford to pay or choose not to) tend to attract more junior/less competent people. Chances are they are planning on you working more than 40 hours a week (which reduces your effective wages even more).

Of course you can. The ability to communicate, math, the ability to think for yourself... All relevant to students in general - and in many cases pre-requisites for a lot of the personal finance curriculum. That being said, glad to see this is being taught - it's a great addition!

Whoah whoah whoah there cowboy. Samsung provides updates. It is the carriers who are blocking those updates. The carriers put customized "firmware" on the phones and do not use Samsung's stock firmware.

In other words, Apple managed to strongarm the carriers but Samsung has not. Blame the carriers, not Samsung (or any other Android device manufacturer).

This shouldn't be rated informative. There is a difference between posting tests scores for a single test, and having a daily reminder of absences and discipline problems. Coming in the day after a test and seeing a 60 next to your name is one thing. Then the test was removed. Contrast that with coming in every day and seeing that you have been sent to the office, and missed 4 days of school from when you got really sick, and no achievements next to your name. Every day.

In other words, it's not the same thing, and pretending it is misses the point.

Also there's no need to poke fun at the critics by trivializing it with language like "crime against humanity".

The point is - humiliation (especially long term daily humiliation) is not an effective motivator. Quite the opposite - it reinforces negative attitudes towards school and low self esteem.

There is no reason to support a system that makes teachers feel effective when that system is hurting rather than helping students. That's the only thing that matters - are we actually helping kids.

I expect that many Americans try to bring a little "souvenir" home with them and that would catch such an instance. I was mildly annoyed and seriously insulted... but meh. It was not a very big deal. It's the fact that no one in the US seems to care.

See? You should be smart enough to KNOW that the media is portraying it all as nobody caring. That is all you get to see is people shrugging it off... and yet hundreds of thousands, nay, millions of Americans absolutely DO care.

Sure, there is a large mass of people who are essentially cows or sheep. They are neither for freedom or against freedom, they just exist. There are quite a few people who are interesting in standing up the authoritarian state because they think they will be the winners. These types would be the fundamentalists and sadists and trolls of the world... but, there is still a goodly amount of people who absolutely do care about the principles that America was founded on. Dismissing them and how deeply they care is rude and trollish. Read your comment again and pay attention to the bolded words this time:

But yeah, keep on repeating that nobody cares. Eventually it will come back to bite you.

That will work for some Americans. For others, it is simply not an option at all. What about those people? What about the people that can choose it as an option but it steals 3 or more hours from their day? I know their time is not worth much but their time is not worthless.

Get a roommate

Are we talking about raising a family here or just bare single subsistence? If family, roommate will not work. If not, American society is not like it is elsewhere in the world. Finding a roommate who is trustworthy and will actually pay is VERY difficult. I recall when I was younger trying to go the roommate route. Inevitably, they would not have rent money at the end of the month because they had some other "emergency" they had to take care of. Sure, they can be kicked out but when it is the majority of them doing it, that is a LOT of months paying full rent solo along with the hassle of dealing with the assholes.

Step back to basic cable (or even broadcast TV) and drop the unlimited data phone plan. Never seen an apartment yet that split out HVAC by unit, and it's hard to spend that much heating/cooling a 2-BR, unless you leave the doors open all winter.

Fuck off with the holier than thou "basic cable" bullshit. In the 80s, I lived without cable and the heating bill alone was over $200, so the amount listed is not even realistic for this day and age. Electric alone in my current house is almost that much. I still do not have cable even today and my utilities/phone/internet are well over $200.

This was the part that made me dislike you the most. You dismissed the utilities issues as if it was a pleasure issue that needed to be curbed. Meh. That attitude sucks HARD.

If you're working 2 minimum wage jobs, you don't get the American Dream. You adjust your lifestyle. Those sacrifices will make your eventual success all the more sweet and motivate your kid(s) to rise above.

There are a whole lot of shades of grey between the American Dream and dying of hunger on the streets. The "complaint" is that the shade of grey is getting too black to be considered humanitarian. Your dismissal of this concern deserves to be derided and insulted. I ought to throw a fuck you in there to help you wake up and see what you are not experiencing but you would likely just close your mind even tighter then.

Yes, if you're living on the edge, then small calamities become disasters. One hopes those are the circumstances where your community (church, neighborhood, or government) pulls together and helps you through.

You realize that this is America we are discussing right? People will stand there and watch you die and then walk on as if nothing had happened. The government? Help? ROFLMAO. Perhaps if you are female, a minority, a felon, or a child. Oops. I mean if you are a single man in America that has never been involved with the system, there are zero safety nets.
