Comment They did get compensation... (Score 1) 195

Just a note, but NAB has made an effort to get every who has lost money due to the glitch compensation. No one, or very few should lose money due to the glitch. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/business/nab-cash-woes-all-weekend/story-e6frfh4f-1225961904137 "The bank also said it won't leave customers out of pocket through any penalties as a result of the technical glitch."

Maybe so, but it will probably work, to an extent. If the government can stop the mass media from reporting anything from wikileaks, most people won't find out. Of course most people will have heard about the new leaks, but unless it comes on tv or in the paper, most people probably won't bother to go through the information and find out what's what. If the government let the media do what they please, the media would build up to the leaks, then give nice and easy to understand summaries of the leaks letting people get the leaks without them having to do anything they wouldn't usually do. Without the media, by the time the leaks actually come out, a lot of people will have forgotten about them. Of course it also makes the government look bad, but no worse than we already knew they were.

Submission + - North Korea attacks South Korea (yahoo.com) 1

Kit Kat100 writes: North Korea on Tuesday fired dozens of artillery shells at a South Korean island, setting buildings on fire and prompting a return of fire by the South, Seoul's military and media reports said.

SEOUL — (Routers)

A witness said residents of the island of Yeonpyeong, off the west coast of the peninsula near a disputed maritime border, had been evacuated.

Yonhap news agency said four South Korean soldiers had been wounded in the shelling, the biggest attack in years.

YTN television quoted a witness as saying 60 to 70 houses were on fire after the shelling and TV footage showed plumes of smoke coming from the island. It said a South Korean fighter jet had been deployed to the west coast after the shelling. The impact was felt internationally, with U.S. 10-year Treasury futures rising and the Japanese yen falling.

South Korea's military confirmed the exchange of firing, without providing more details.

The attack comes just as a U.S. envoy is travelling to the region after revelations that the North is moving ahead with uranium enrichment, a possible second path to manufacture material for atomic US weapons.

I'm not exactly an adult, so I don't know how long I'm going to use them. However, I would recommend anything that let's them build stuff. e.g.Lego is always good :) Don't know for sure, but I think it can also be good to get them a fancy kit or two that uses fairly regular blocks, just so that they can see how easy it is to build something with those blocks themselves. Then get a large amount of various regular blocks. It's best though if you decide on a single main type of building material to use (for larger constructions). Only thing necessary is plenty of ideas. Good luck =D
