I have a feeling at least 5% of these must be behind some proxy servers which mask the User-agent string with IE one.

Ok I admit that the feeling is not speculation, but more like hope.

I have known many people who have ~100billion or so neurons that consume 20 watts of power, but they also have plenty of trouble with "Common sense". Actually they might be less sensible in some areas than a 100Kb C code running on a puny little Pentium 4.

You'll be just as disappointed as I was. It doesn't fly at all.

The user remains in control

Yes of course they remain in control. First of all they have the choice of not letting their PC get infected by NOT using Windows. And if they must use it, and were compromised, then please stay off the Internet.

The update was pushed to Automatic Updates and I installed it yesterday. Did a Windows fan-boy got just a bit too excited to see a Linux Vulnerability?

Only if Intel had said "thinner than a pancake" about the SSD, I could have sued them after making a petite pancake definitely thinner than that SSD.

I wonder what will happen to other open source projects that are mainly funded my Nokia. One example that comes to mind is (meta) tracker. AFAIK, most of its development is sponsored by Nokia as part of their Meego platform. and considering Microsoft's relation with OSS, I won't be surprised if Meego was the first to be axed.

Interestingly enough, the news of the supernova's explosion didn't made it to Slashdot, but it fading away was more interesting somehow. Kinda like when George W. Bush left the office I guess.

Actually they have already done it 3 times. First in 2004, then with help from MIT folks in 2006 and last being the recent "President's challenge".

This makes me wonder, why isn't there a law related to OSS and companies trying to patent or benefit from open code or software without complying with the related license (GNU for most part)?

And if the such a law is not possible, there should be an OSS organization that itself patents some code or ideas, profit from it, and eventually drive development of open code.

But I would rather die healthy at 60, than live in an old home while being overweight at 80.

Outliving your peers is not a good thing for everyone

Why is it that UK ministers and policy makers keep saying and passing out stupid and lame laws, but EU guys seem to be intelligent and sane when it comes to technology. UK and USA should borrow some people like these from EU.

I hope it will force ISPs to uncap their packages. No point in having a Netstream account and try to steam when you have a pathetic 20GB (or so) limit.

When you name something "Zeus", you gotta be able to plan and code above than normal.

Considering the developing model and community orientation (even in corporations) of Linux and variants, a Linux monopoly won't be even close to as terrible as Windows'. As a matter of fact, I would rather expect the OSS developers to work even harder in making their code more secure and stable when more users are migrating.
