They aren't being tried for doing their jobs, they are being tried for allegedly NOT doing their job. The point is that they intentionally disseminated misleading information and not following the correct procedures, not that they didn't predict earthquakes. At least that is what the prosecutor claims. I have no idea if he is correct or not.

But Android apps and iOS apps are not linux apps. So the argument that no one would use a new OS because no-one would write software for it has been debunked. It is entirely possible to introduce a new OS and have tons of people use it. For example: Android and iOS. Chasing after Windows is pointless. Microsoft already does Windows better than anyone else.

Huh? Washington DC was not designed to be inhabited? Where were all the people who worked in DC supposed to live? The Metro didn't exist in the 1700's buddy. There were no suburbs back then. Wow, you are really clueless. As a homeowner in DC I can say this is one of the best cities to live in, in the US.

If the primary value is gold is that it is "visually pleasing to most people and very useful in many different processes and industries" then why did the value of gold rise over 700% in the last 10 years? Based on your statement it either has become 700% more visually pleasing or 700% more useful for industry. Gold isn't valuable at all, except people choose to invest in it. If there was no gold, some other metal would be used in the industrial processes. Obviously the primary value of gold is for speculation and hedging against uncertainty.

I thought the point of the classic experiment was that you couldn't tell which slit they went through, but they were obviously particles because of the impressions they made on the photo-sensitive paper, but they also obviously traveled in waves because of the interference pattern they made at the end of the experiment.
