BTW Adam Curry should never been seen or heard from again in the tech community IMHO.

He's a radio personality and an MTV VJ. What do you expect?

He is, especially with his latest partner John C., far too entertaining to be banned from the "tech community" - even when there are no new phones (and, thus, no "tech news").

The main problem is that psychoactive drugs have VASTLY different effects depending on your baseline of operation. Especially with you're dealing with a drug like an SSRI, which by itself doesn't put something into your body but rather keeps your body from eliminating something.

That first and foremost requires something to exist, and the lack thereof IS exactly the problem.

Is it me or is it considerable bullshit to examine the effect in a healthy specimen?

This is actually why I like to drive a manual transmission, because it keeps me awake longer on a long-haul drive. This was something originally pointed out to me by a bus driver, who noted that the bus company refused to put automatic transmissions into their buses at the time explicitly to keep the minds of the drivers engaged in the operation of the vehicle instead of other distractions. I also find that a manual transmission give me both a better feel of the road conditions, and more options to apply when operating the vehicle too. The tactile feel of the gears in the transmission through the gear shift can actually give you quite a bit of information that an experienced driver can incorporate into their driving habits, something I definitely find missing in an automatic transmission.

As for the Google cars, the scary thing is that they are currently driving on the roads right now. Supposedly they've already racked up several million miles of travel on public roads. They have moved well past the test track stage. The main issues right now are legal and social, not engineering, although I agree with you that I'm not convinced they are ready for prime time yet.

Well, that's exactly the problem, that being the judge yourself is usually anything but easy. It may seem odd for someone who never experienced it, but for you, very little changes. You don't really notice it. Because your "baseline" remains the same. That it changes relatively doesn't really register until much, much later.

That's one of the reasons why so many people interrupt or abandon their therapy. Because you DO notice the side effects very quickly...

He's throwing the entire pool of U.S. workers under the bus!! "...just OK..." ???

Judging from the foreign labor I've worked with for the last 6 or 7 years, compared to similarly qualified US workers, I'd say that description is upside-down. About the only thing the Chinese and Indian imports are better at is bowing and scraping and accepting more work than they can possibly do with nothing a "yes, yes, yes" deferring contriteness. That only makes them look like even worse productively, because so many tasks end up as crap, or late, or simply dropped.

If they mean that foreign workers put on a better facade as slaves, and US workers are only "Ok" slaves, yea, I'll buy that.
