Journal Journal: new trouble ticket system

I've set up a new system to help keep track of problems and feature requests from you. It's hosted on a separate server, so if shank goes down you'll hopefully still be able to reach buttons. The link is in the column on the right.

Your customer name is used as your userid and password. You may change that when you log in.

Status:
vixie-cron is up and running. That's pretty basic, it should've been in the initial image. :-/

Status:
squirrelmail is installed and partially configured. if you had lots of addressbook entries, they will return soon. i have to do some more work on the mysql database and phpmyadmin.

Whoops, I had the path wront to checkvpw in the pop3 config. NOW it works.

Status:
mysql is now running. Let me know if you have problems with that. Also I had the wrong version of "checkpassword" in the pop3 config. I put in "checkvpw" for virtual user mail and restarted the daemon.

Status:
Virtual-user mail appears to be working. I also turned on pop3. You should be able to relay mail through shank as before too, I fixed the smtp-auth and should work with a secure connection.

Merry Christmas!

Only thing I accomplished today was setting allow_url_fopen in php.ini and restarting the webserver. I'm off tomorrow so I should get more time to resolve the problems with virtual-user email.

Status:
perl cgi works now. If you are getting 500 Internal Server Error, the permissions are more strict now. Make sure your files are chmod 0755 with proper user:group settings.

For some reason mysql thinks it's already running when it's not. It won't bind to the UNIX socket. I'm running out of time today before work. If you have a hint, let me know :-)

Status:
With the reboot, single-drop email is working. Those of you (me included) that use virtual-user email, that still requires more work. So does mysql. Leave me a message if you notice something ELSE that doesn't work.

Status:
I took the server down for a reboot and it hasn't come back up. Waiting for the host. I'm headed off to work so unless they let me go early (not likely) I won't be able to do anything further until tonight. I'm expecing most of the services to operate normally when the machine comes back up.

Web sites that do not require mysql should be operating properly now.

Status:
I've set up the physical user accounts on shank. If you have a shell account, you should be able to ssh in now.

Action:
pop3 and imap are being installed now. When it finishes you'll be able to start checking your mail. While that's installing, I'm working on getting your websites back up and running.

Status:
qmail is now accepting mail and it is being queued up on the server for delivery. Once I have everyone's account configured, I will enable delivery and you'll be able to check your mail.

Action:
Right now I'm installing mysql, python, php, apache and qmail-scanner (and all their dependencies). This should be complete when I get home tonight so I can set everything else up.

Status:
I have nameservice and the mail exchanger partially running. I'm merging in some software now and once that's done, I'll verify that your email is being queued for delivery. I've copied your home directories to the new shank.

I convinced my host to set up a compile farm for me so software installation will go much faster. Now using a 3GHz Xeon, 2.4GHz P4 and a 1.2GHz/512K P3 to compile! yay

Action:
I'm probably going to have to leave it in this state until I get home tonight about 23:45 ET. The apache webserver needs to be rebuilt with all the options (mysql, php, perl, etc.) along with a few more things. I'm going to let it chew on that while I'm at work. I should be able to get it so you can check your mail Thursday morning.

Status:
The software installation ran all night and is still running. It's building the last package right now.

Action:
First task is to migrate nameservice, then set up buttons as backup mx, then start migrating accounts.
