Submission + - Two Arrested in iPad Security Breach (wsj.com)

rshxd writes: From the story, Andrew "weev" Auernheimer and Daniel "JacksonBrown" Spitler were taken into custody today, according to federal prosecutors, for their involvement with the breach of personal information from AT&T's servers. Auernheimer and Spitler conspired to trick the activation feature in the AT&T iPad activation to reveal the owner of the script generated ID numbers of the iPad and log all the results that the activation server replied with. If the script submitted an ID number already in use, the activation server replied with the name and e-mail address of the registered owner which allowed the duo to log the personal information. The group they were involved with, Goatse Security, then submitted the information of 114,000 iPad owners to Gawker who subsequently posted the information on their website. According to the article, federal prosecutors in New Jersey will give a press conference at 12:30 Eastern time today.
