Submission + - Philippine Vice President uses E-vehicle (mb.com.ph)
vmaldia writes: Vice President Jejomar C. Binay took an electric jeepney (e-jeepney) ride from the historic landmark Manila Hotel to the Quirino Grandstand at the Rizal Park for his inauguration on Wednesday.
The former Makati City mayor used the inauguration as a unique opportunity to display the e-jeepney and showcase to the world the ingenuity of Filipinos, especially since thousands of viewers worldwide would be glued to their TV screens to witness the oath-taking of President Aquino III and himself.
The e-jeepney, launched in 2007, runs on battery-powered electric motors. Binay, while still mayor of Makati City, was one of the first to drive the vehicle.
