Comment Junk science (Score 1) 83

So the theory is that there were 2...they collided...and are still 2. They are made of similar stuff too, before and after. I'm sorry, how do we know they impacted again? Oh right...they are slightly different ages...we've mastered that whole dating thing back to 14 billion years. Wait, that doesn't mean they collided...hmmm I'm stumped.

Comment Parentlessness (Score 1) 324

44% of single mother families are in poverty, who knows how many of those mothers are even around when working more than one job. If no one teaches them the basics, who will? Only 12% of families with both parents at home are in poverty, and in most cases, at least one parent is around (if they were both working 2 jobs, they wouldn't be in poverty). Sounds like the real problem is single mother families...one could argue this is a moral problem, stepping away from traditional families to the lifestyles we live now.

Comment Re:Obvious (Score 1) 486

Agreed. It doesn't even mention using StringBuffers or anything else that is designed to increase the performance of String concatenations, or even simply using a 1MB byte or char array. Not only did they fail in their programming, they failed to understand that the disk has its own memory, and their 1MB string is small enough to fit there before being physically stored on disk.

Comment Re:Atlassian Jira (Score 1) 144

Costs too much...lol. I had a group ask my to build a custom one for them, and I said JIRA would do this fine. They made me price out what I thought it would take for me to build one myself to fit their specific needs, and it ended up being about the same cost for me to slap it together as it would for a 100 person JIRA license.

Comment Re:String them along (Score 1) 229

Agreed. At first I just pretended to be following along, and after a while he asked if I was even at my computer. I got on Linux and followed all of their instructions. After a while he gave me to someone else and they walked me through all the steps all over again. Something with the TeamViewer exe wasn't working right.

Comment Re:Damn... A win for the creationists (Score 1) 94

I know you are joking, but in a way it is a win for creationists. After 2.8 million years, we have under 8 billion people on earth. Statistical models just don't support it. You have creationists that believe there could have been more people on earth prior to the flood than there are now, in just 1656 years when the lifespan was ~900 years per person. My great great grandparents had 11 children that lived to adulthood, and my grandparents had 6...try running those numbers. At just 4 surviving children per parents, using 33 years per "generation", you easily hit 8 billion in 1000 years.
