How do I know that the WiFi is turned off on my ebook reader? (Kobo Aura HD) Simple battery life, more then doubles when the WiFi is off, thus it is always turned off. All files come through the USB cable and my collection is managed by Calibre on my Linux laptop.

Well obviously we just ignore anything that has the evil bit set!

As a counterpoint to this; I had a reasonable machine for work. Win7 Pro, then IT got hold of it and connected it to the new domain etc; now it is much slower. Booting, shutting down, launching programs...everything is slower then the day before.

I believe this is the only correct way to use "misunderestimate".

I once tried to reply to a text while going down a gentle grade on my mountain bike....ended up on my ass....pine cone in a shadow caught the front wheel.....I had done it many times before and it was fine. Just goes to show just because you succeed in not crashing 100 times doesn't mean that you will succeed 101 times. I haven't done it again since...too much to do to risk being injured for a text message.

Depending on the printer I found Ubuntu easier to setup then Win7. We had a Konica printer in the office; on Ubuntu I put in the IP address of the new printer and hit next a few times, having to select the postscript driver as the only choice point. Worked for printing etc... couldn't get the scan to samba working but eh...ended up using scan to email.

Win7 was a nightmare, had to go to the website and download various drivers and install them till one worked, what a waste of time; no we don't have an "IT" pro in the office, we are a 3 man operation. I'm sure if I had chosen the correct download first time it would have worked but that is just the way it worked out.

I have a Koo Aura HD, never once while once while I have been reading have I thought "you know what, I really need to take some notes here". The ereaders are great at one thing, being a reader.

If your what to take notes etc, use a tablet they have a much better refresh rate and touch precision.

Well I for one am looking forward to it. I used to game quite a lot, but I got busy and stopped playing a few years ago. It was about 6 months after that that I deleted my windows partition since I only ever used it for games.

Now with steam coming to linux I can have games installed on the system I actually WANT to use rather then the one I HAVE to use (but don't because I just can't be arsed installing Windows again) currently.

I doubt that I will get back into gaming like I was 5 years ago, but I also have a job that pays me enough now that I can afford to buy whatever title I like which I didn't in the past. GOOD games coming to linux an be nothing but an overall win for the platform.

In saying that battle for wesnoth is an awesome game. Though I haven't played for a few years since I ran through a few of the available scenarios available for it.

Another big part of this is the ability to get the creature in question to breed in captivity. If you could get the turtles to breed in captivity easily enough even the breeding cycle would not be a problem.
