They buckled for scientology when that 'church' threatened the existence of slashdot, explaining their motives and urging readers to write their congresspeople; why won't they take the same public stance on something that threatens the entire internet?

I agree. My first gpu a, 3dFX Voodoo 2, was probably the best upgrade for me. Going from sotware to hardware accelerated 3d was a big jump, now it just feels like incremental updates. Doesn't seem to invoke the same sense of "ooooooooh" anymore :)
