Submission + - Apple iOS4 Update Bricks Multiple iPhones (thinq.co.uk)

Stoobalou writes: Since Apple released an emergency update to the beleaguered handset's iOS4 operating system earlier today, an avalanche of bewildered iPhone users have been bombarding the company's forums with tales of infinitive restart loops, failed upgrades and even some permanently bricked hardware.

Apple seems to be aware of the issue as a number of users have reportedly returned their unresponsive iPhones to Apple stores and been given an immediate replacement.

SeaMicro Unveils 512 Atom-Based Server 183

1sockchuck writes "Stealthy startup SeaMicro has unveiled its new low-power server, which incorporates 512 Intel Atom CPUs, a load balancer and interconnection fabric into a 10u server. SeaMicro, which received a $9.3 million government grant from DOE to develop its technology, says its server uses less than 2 kilowatts of energy — suggesting that a single rack with four SeaMicro units and 2,048 CPUs could draw just 8 kilowatts of power. The White House Listed On Real Estate Website 123

Forget visiting the White House, if you have $10 million you can own it. At least that is the price for the president's home on the real estate website Redfin. From the article: "Obviously this is an error. It looks like Redfin software pulled an example listing from the website Owners.com by mistake. That example listing was the White House. We have e-mailed Redfin for comment." I know it's historic but it still looks a bit on the high side according to the comparables in the area.

Teaching Fifth Graders Engineering 156

Jamie noticed a NYT story saying "To compete in a global economy, some school districts are offering engineering lessons to students in kindergarten. " The story is about 5th graders working on a new experimental curriculum that is well beyond the egg drop of old.

Project Natal Renamed 'Kinect' 286

It is going to be completely controller-free. You can browse your dashboard with the wave of your hand."
