Don't forget that this was in the docs that were available _after_ the NDA had been signed and the choice for the chip had been made! So, OpenMoko was 'duped' into buying that chip...

Sony Breach Gets Worse: 24.6 Million Compromised Accounts At SOE 242
An anonymous reader writes with an update to yesterday morning's news that Sony Online Entertainment's game service was taken offline to investigate a potential data breach related to the PSN intrusion. SOE has now said that they too suffered a major theft of user data.
"... personal information from approximately 24.6 million SOE accounts may have been stolen, as well as certain information from an outdated database from 2007. The information from the outdated database that may have been stolen includes approximately 12,700 non-US credit or debit card numbers and expiration dates (but not credit card security codes), and about 10,700 direct debit records of certain customers in Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Spain."

Even worse is when the cashier's total shows 10.65 and you give them 21.15 (and not 20) to make it easier on them and they just stare, give you back the 1.15 and then proceed to count off 9.35 in bills and coins to give you your change...

True, but then I wouldn't expect the phenomenon to be more pronounced at a lower brightness. Unless, of course, the colors are changed at low brightness to take non-linear vision into account...

That may be true, but I've returned a new iMac to the store multiple times because I saw perceptible clicker in the screen. Maybe it's just me, but I seem to be perceive flicker more than other people. Luckily for me, one of the techs at the Apple Store also saw the flicker...
Now, when the screen brightness turns lower, and there's not much other light around, it's barely perceptible. It used to physically make me sick to see that screen in low brightness...

In Dutch, the www is no problem (to pronounce, since it's a single-syllable sound), but most commercials and people spell sites like wwwslashdot.org. Without the first dot, with the second. Drives me crazy. Oh yeah, and people still insist that every site should start with www...

Stephane Rieppi writes: I just got the information that on October 5th, 2008, Clifford T. Matthews, author of the clean room Executor 68k Mac (OS 6 — OS 7) emulator, open-sourced both Executor and Syn68k (often described as the fastest JIT Motorola 68040LC emulator) under a MIT-like license. It looks like it was received with general indifference, which is kind of sad: this fine piece of programming is a real gem from the mid-nineties. Its principle is similar to WINE: a good portion of the Mac OS toolbox was rewritten from scratch and runs as native code. Executor was able to run a lot of old school Mac applications, such as HyperCard, without infringing on Apple's IP. Now that it is Open Sourced, it would really benefit from a bit of community love. It's probably as close as we will get on seeing the internals of Classic Mac OS.
