I doubt it was a guess. They would have had hundreds of years of knowledge in oral-tradition form, and many examples. The majority of the population would have:

* Eaten extremely well (as in, same simple things over and over and not overeaten)
* Would not have been exposed to many poisons like modern humanity is
* Exercised all day 6 days a week with some sort of manual labor.

With such a sample set, you'd probably get way more people living to their maximum age than you would today, even if it isn't as observable as it is with modern technology.

What if the telomere depletion rate is how your body knows when puberty begins? If we start with a newborn, you may see people who don't start puberty until they're 20 years old! Ha!

Why don't you think it's OK to allow people who join a company after day 0 to get stock options? I just joined a new company and received some stock options. Granted, it probably won't be millions, but why do you think I shouldn't be allowed that form of payment? This article is bullshit. Someone wrote an Android app that stores information. That's not malware, that's an app. Malware would be doing it via holes in the system that are unprotected.

I'm a software developer at a San Francisco startup. I guarantee you my company is not importing poor people to work for less or ripping off the system. I don't know every single startup in the city - but I know more than a few, and all of those are not harmful to our society, but indeed the exact opposite.

Every single tax that you've ever paid will almost always pay for something else that doesn't directly relate to you. And, generally, you are forced to pay tax. For example, all the liberals have to pay for all the conservative's wars, and that's a bagillion times more expensive than birth control.
