Well, technology makes a lot of work better and easier. You only have to be very selective in what tech you adopt, and what tech you redirect to the dumpster. But trying a bit with new things is alwys a good idea, otherwise you never discover new useful stuff. Just as programmers should try new editors, from time to time. :-)

Personally, when reading pdf articles, the difference between 1080p and 4k make a world of difference. The aliasing is almost invisible in 4K. Also, thin diagonal lines in plots are much more clearly defined. Because this difference is so large, I have little doubt that 8k will also make a difference, although maybe not as much as from 2k to 4k. I have not yet had the pleasure of comparing video on 1080p and 4k.

And if we have a look at air coolers and their reviews, the cooling capacity is not very strongly related to the surface area. It was even remarked that modern heat sinks place the fins too close together, and that air had difficulty going between them. That heat sinks with the fins wider apart, and as such less total area, were more effective coolers. And it is quite easy to get dust out of a finned cooler. But getting dust out of a copper sponge is different matter altogether.
